OS for a 10 year-old laptop

i have this old laptop, 2GB RAM, Intel Duo 2GHz, and i've been trying to install several linux distros but something fails at the start and none of them starts(maybe graphics), except for Linux Mint, but I don't want Ubuntu on my machine. What you recommend me?

Lubuntu, or Debian based distro but with openbox, like bunsenlabs

I've used Manjaro Xfce on a number of Core Duo laptops.

>Intel
Clear Linux

Puppy Linux

Big
Sloppy
Dicks

ohh i like that aesthetic..
the specs are garbage though.
2009 laptops should have had more.

OpenBSD

tiny7

Try getting couple more gigs of ram and if possible upgrade the processor to intel core two duo (34nm) as well as throw an SSD on it

It'll at least run windows 7 although I'd suggest getting ubuntu mattay

I used to only have a 2GB RAM laptop, too. I know your pain, user.

Did people really watch DVDs so often they needed physical button controls?

what pain? i haven't owned a laptop with that much ram before

Rosa Linux LXQt Edition with Yandex browser.

go with debian dude, gnome may be a bit heavy bot xfce or openbox should be fine

Yo is that tripcode?

it is indeed trapcode

cute and funny!

AntiX Linux.

I have it running on a 256MB RAM computer and it works wonderfully well. It's super light too.

temple os

thats super buggy

Peppermint 10, but hear me out:
-it has ICE SSB so you can make your own site-specific browser windows for websites, and you get to choose the browser to run it with, and it can use extensions and plugins as well.
-it has a lite install where it just has firefox and a few other things
-it uses fuckall resources, even on that laptop you have.
-there is a 32bit version as well as 64 bit.
-VERY light weight!
It maybe 'Ubuntu' but for drivers etc on that old beater, you should be good!

Win8 embedded

Debian seems like the natural choice.
When they don't start, might it be because they expect EFI? Not sure which distros you tried but check their docs for any mention of that. Haven't installed anything on such an old machine in a while.

Devuan, Debian

What can you even do with 2 gigs of ram? My last PC was a E8200 Core 2 Duo with 4GB of ram. It was choking with only a few browser tabs open. It's even worse when you watch 1080p videos.

2Gb ram will run Ubuntu mate great. Just configure it to your liking? I have a centrino 2core duo running it great.
If it runs off DVD or usb, should run fine?

>What can you even do with 2 gigs of ram?
what /can't/ you do with 2G ram?

It’s completely worthless so just chuck it out.

above 64M ram, it doesn't really matter what you choose distro-wise, rather what applications you run on it

should have posted the prettier one

You opened a few programs with no documents/images loaded. What exactly did you prove? Also, you only have like 1 tab opened in palemoon?

Linuxlite.

you think i'm going to suddenly go from a third of a gig to anywhere near 2 gigs by opening a larger picture in gimp (it actually does have an image open, just one with nothing drawn on it), opening a non-blank LO document, and opening a couple more tabs?

just swap to ssd add 4gb of ram and install windows 10 I'm working on similar configuration and it's ok

fpbp and /thread

It depends on what you use the computer for, really.

Fucking repulsive.

it makes no sense to post this in response to a real photo

Kali Linux should be sufficient

#!

xfce would be fine here right?
i thought it was generally lightweight

Lubuntu*

XFCE is a DE, not a distro.

Lubuntu, Mint XFCE, Peppermint (Peppermint only if you're storage drive is small and you want a cloud centric OS)
