Are these actually monitored or are they just recording?

Attached: are-security-cameras-a-solution-for-my-small-business.jpg (960x487, 124K)

They're monitored if someone from AP is in the control room, otherwise they're just recording. There's also a good chance ~60% of them are fake cameras.

Yeah, it depends on the store as well and how many security are employed. For example in my store it's what said. However a large chain retail store in a mall, probably will be monitored.

Yes, what's the point in recording a theft if no ones there to see it.

They are always recording, and there's often a back room with monitors where some fat fuck tracks suspicious people. If you plan on shoplifting, I suggest you try when there's a big crowd, like during winter holidays.I've heard a lot of stories of people stealing successfully despite the cameras.

Depends on, it's expensive to have someone monitoring them so smaller stores usually uses dummies or bad recording while larger more expensive stores uses monitoring and recording.

Security camera systems are one of the most jewish markets in the business and are massively overpriced for what they offer.
So it's little wonder that you can't have very many active feeds going, and people don't put as many real cameras as they should

If they have upgraded their stuff with AI surveillance then it doesn't matter because they'll get alerted immediately for suspicious activity.

>AI surveillance
sounds like a crock of shit
Let me go to the store and put my phone in my pocket a couple times in different location so the fat wagie keeps getting buzzed awake.

Knowing cheap corporate fucks, of the very few that actually contain cameras, even fewer are ptz. They all record and they’re only reviewed when they think a minority has lifted a 98 cent item.

Those security sweep announcements on the PA are fake too.

I work for a large hardware retailer that rhymes with blows
We got rid of LP and our policy is to not do anything (including notifying police) when theft occurs. in the store I work at there are only cameras at points where you can enter/exit the store and in one corner of the nursery. People literally walk out with thousands of dollars in product, entire trailers, riding lawnmowers, etc., and nothing ever happens to them. The cameras are in place more to catch employees breaking rules

they will probably just use AI that simply monitors skin color

forgot to post pic,
there is something called X-DEFENDER
they can detect your mental stress, and AI can predict you are shoplifting. Just don't shoplift in city, and stick to places that can't afford this technology.

Attached: -1x-1.jpg (1920x1080, 209K)

I can't imagine what was going through the suit's head when they thought of this
>asset protection costs more in wages than actually just letting the product walk out the door!
>let's just rely on the good will of rednecks and mexicans to keep our business afloat

>just recording
more often it's this than not. some cameras also serve as boundary monitors so trying to cross an imaginary line can set off alarms.

I'd fake it all just to spite the AI.

>age 31
Whatever

Maybe it’s just not worth it to destroy people’s lives over something as benign as shoplifting.

Management and workers probably use "thieves" to cover their own stealing.

This, I work with AI surveillance and it's so fucking bullshit.
We buy cameras for $15k, configures their IP, slap on your logo and sell it for $22k and another $250 a month.
It uses some basic motion detection with a heat camera and sends the alarm to poland where some plumber evaluates if it's a human, animal or something else before sending it to our customers.

Not missing the chance to sell that tape of shoplifting celebrities to TMZ!

They could just swap the camera feed to every camera that has a moving object in the foreground

It's for the sake of promoting an environment of excellent customer service or something
we also will accept anything as far as returns go. people return shit they shouldn't be able to all of the time.
>mexican guy buys like 20 shovels
>probably an illegal working for a shady contractor
>comes back a month later because the shovels are all defective
>shovels are dirty and well used but nothing is wrong with them
>want to tell guy to fuck off
>call manager
>he gives them full refund
>shovels end up in trash

>probably an illegal working for a shady contractor
Fucked up thing is that contractor probably voted for Trump

Ex-security guard here
Recording, but zero people checking, because checking hours of video is the most boring job in the world.
And they always use the lowest quality posible because there's rarely anything moving to justify waste the limited storage (Typically a single 32GB pendrive ) in 1080 video of a supermarket

Attached: 32_gb_sandisk__96802_zoom_2.jpg (800x800, 72K)

Go back to the reddit, you mongloid

>they always use the lowest quality posible
oh I know, I was held up by a gunman as a cashier at walmart years ago and the cops never identified the guy because of the shitty video quality of the security cameras

Does anyone else ever think about how bizarre the concept of security cameras are?
You basically can't do anything in a public space now without getting caught.
Not that I'm advocating breaking the law, but it's weird to think that our ancestors used to be able to get away with doing whatever shit they wanted so long as there wasn't another human within line of sight at that exact moment.

Attached: 1487361011401.jpg (480x336, 23K)

You should apply for a purple heart

>walmart
They actually pulled the footage in a situation where it didn’t directly benefit them? I’m surprised they didn’t fire you for allowing yourself to be robbed.

I'm not sure what sort of future we're headed for. People unintentionally break minor laws constantly. The tech is there for hi-res recording, facial recognition, and tracking via cellphone/car radios. "Hey we saw you kiss your girlfriend in the park, that's technically illegal, here's your fine."

Attached: 1564282276396.png (690x748, 180K)

The right wingers will call it law and order while their corporate masters commit felony white collar crimes with impunity.

Most are fake but there's still enough to cover the store. Didn't read the thread but I assume there's a lot of conspiracy theories about how security cameras are only used because something to do with [race/political ideology I don't like]

That sounds like complete bullshit made to sell expensive shit to tech illiterate executives

>not liking daddy trump automatically makes you a reddit liberal

Or maybe you shouldn't be shoplifting in the first place you unironic nigger.
As much as they love to call everyone fragile babies I've seen far more drumpfies screeching out of nowhere about a literal who on some other website not liking them than anyone saying anything negative on here

I just wanted to point out the irony that most of these build the wall shitheads depend on cheap undocumented labor.

>Lol I'm a national socialist who thinks that Trump is a Negro loving kike puppet. You you libtards have to mention him in every fucking thread and that gets on my nerves
Reminder these are the people going muh Jow Forums boogeyman
Reminder these are the people that go to Twitter to find someone not liking trump just so they can cry about it here if not enough people are talking about trump here
Reminder these are the people calling you obsessed
Reminder this is who's calling you a snowflake

Attached: 1564679034340.jpg (900x600, 134K)

Oh nevermind there's a Jow Forumsshit sperging the fuck out over absolutely nothing, I was right

Actually it's because dealing with legal repercussions of LP harassing, illegally searching or downright assaulting someone is way more expensive than the loss that comes from stealing. Said loss is already estimated in profit projections anyway, so it's more profitable to just let people steal shit
>I'm a nazi and I'm triggered on the internet
Stop the presses!

Based Jow Forums mods doing something for once
It's not even that, idiots kept fleeing, running into traffic and getting hurt which ends up getting the store sued, alternatively any employee hurt also ends up turning around and suing the store, so now they can't (and rightfully since I don't want psychotic brainlets who couldn't even become a cop having any power) do anything so the company can at least say they told them not to

> psychotic brainlets who couldn't even become a cop
Perfect summary of LP guys. I have a tactic for the few stores that still employs these clowns that works pretty well. Whenever they insist on searching me (or want to escort me to a room, which is fucking jackpot), I simply call the cops myself. They come and explain that no, Mr mall cop in fact can't search or detain me for any reason whatsoever. Then I usually end up with a gift card from the store manager

When I worked at walmart they actually had a loss prevention guy in regular clothes that would follow people around in the store and “arrest” them if they pocketed something. He was definitely a reject city cop applicant. Thank god they didn’t let him carry a gun.

but its not, it's already implemented in China at the national level because the government has right to surveillance citizens as much as it wants. You can rely on the fact that your local shop retards are illiterate, but eventually they'll figure it out.

Attached: mc.jpg (1600x900, 740K)

I live in Brazil (although I visit the US on business regularly) and LP is pretty much extinct over here. However I once visited Paraguay (famous for its cheap electronics) and decided to browse a few stores. Imagine small store that held around 30 customers when completely packed. Their LP guy walked around with a shotgun, his finger on the trigger constantly. I've never nope'd so fast out of a place

Cameras are 90% only placed there with the intention of catching employees slacking or to punish internal theft, because that's the only kind they have a real shot at dealing with anyways.

Its stupid to fake it. Those things cost ~$30-40 a piece. How much would each store have? A dozen? Thats $400 for a large store that can churn in thousands in losses each day. Its supremely cheap to operate those too.

>And they always use the lowest quality posible because there's rarely anything moving to justify waste the limited storage (Typically a single 32GB pendrive ) in 1080 video of a supermarket
I've never understood this. Motion detection is not a new technology. Why not record only when something is happening, or at least drop bitrate to piss poor when nothing is happening?

That's pretty cool actually. If I had a store I'd use this to keep the (((kids))) from ruining my store and pretending like they did nothing.

Less work and guessing too. I'm assuming it works with a high accuracy.

user not even all (most?) republicans back trump

Since thread is politics now, democrats are relatively very likely to abstain or vote republican if they don't like the democrat candidate, conversely republicans will always vote republican no matter what then align their views to the party/candidate after the fact

Democracy assuming we actually were one is overrated anyway, I don't want the average retard having a say in anything

Recent events have amplified how much Republicans are shifting away from Trump. Even they're having a difficult time supporting him.

Republicans always vote for their own kind because they're stupid but I think it's starting to change. Even the hardcore people who voted for him and don't care about anything non-white have seen that not only did he not help brings their jobs back but he actually made things worse for them. Lots of them lost their jobs.

Moscow Bitch is getting extreme hate and it's doubled recently too. Republicans can't defend him for anything.

>crime should have no consequences
hmm what could be the possible societal ramifications of this idea

give it back tyrone

Because even some Republicans realized he's not le hard working average Joe hero (ironic given conservatives think performing one menial task over and over is hard or respectable work but I digress) but just being as inflammatory and empty as possible to attract retarded memers

For the record I'm not exactly pretending the average democrat is rational either but it's nowhere near the level of trump worship

that'd only help when the store is closed or it's a really really slow day. there tends to be a lot of motion in a store while it's open

Friendly reminder the country is doing just fine other than the brewing civil war that people like you are fueling and people who sperg out about Trump don't even know what the powers of the President actually are. North Korea is going well by the way.
t. Independent who loves watching red team and blue team tear themselves apart over one guy to the point of putting both parties on the brink of collapse

Reasonable. But I always just shake my head every time I see newspapers and TV show grainy shots from store cameras that would make 90s camcorders ashamed. I just know they're never catching that crook because you literally can't see shit on the camera.

>DO NOT EVER ACKNOWLEDGE ANYTHING THE PRESIDENT DOES EVER OR YOU'RE OBSESSED
The country is beyond fucked for non-Trump reasons and has been heading there for decades as a result of the government priotizing business over people and lately identity politics

>lately
it's been going on since you were born

I was born before 2014/2016, just because political outrage existed before doesn't mean it hasn't hit an all time low

The ones in my store are recording 24/7 but nobody checks the footage unless something happens.

Rejoice, in the future cheap AI solutions will manage the monitoring and analysis. Nobody will be safe.

Gamers... Society...

Do you even notice if you have one less item on a shelf?

>just because political outrage existed before doesn't mean it hasn't hit an all time low
>all time low
I love it when reactionary retards prove just how ignorant they are all on their own. People like you are so quick to scream about how everything is a problem yet don't have even the slightest understanding of anything you ostensibly hold so dear.
Oh, and just so you know for future reference, you should probably look up the year 1861.

You typed so much and wrote absolutely nothing

So I can just steal stuff from stores straight from the shelf and no one would notice? I don't have to go through the whole fake scanning at the self checkout?

working in retail for 20 years now, they are rarely monitored.
team members cost money.
alot of them are fake and poor res.
my current store has 30 camera domes or so. but only 14 real cameras.
most are like a 640x540
2 cameras are at ~1100x720

Please do go on, the longer you put off admitting you don't know the significance of the year 1861 the more retarded you look.

>alot of them are fake
They deliberately mount fake cameras?
Or are they real cameras that are just old and no longer hooked up but nobody bothers to take them down?

They deliberately mount fake cameras
my store is less than 5 years old.
16 of the fake cameras, 2 of them have cables with a fake camera.
POE fake camera with red blinking light.
they cost about the same as a real camera.

i've asked for better CCTV for years now. it costs money, so no.

Even a brand new shop a few KMs away has only 1080p IP cameras in a few places with 720 cameras everywhere else.
>supermarket in aust.

Most don't even record they just stream

Do the real cameras send footage wireless?
Or do they have to run data wires to every (real) camera? - because would probably be the most effort of all.

Same honestly, you don't even need to store for a while. Even if you miss some crook walk off with a free pack of cigarettes and a day later the evidence is compressed to 144p and he's safe, it's still ridiculous that a shooter can walk in and then an hour later when police are going through the footage there's no high res version of the events.

>mfw the shop owners at sopa do macaco land has given up on security.

Also

Based Paraguayans ready to shoot niggers.

all POE
wireless cameras are really only used for temp cameras like when someone (team member) is stealing and they need proof.
they will come in when the store is closed and install one - without even the store manager knowing.

Well not completely given up. My perception is skewed, obviously markets and department stores in poor areas have LP that act like militiamen, because in those areas people are used to having their rights ignored by any authority figure. Since I'm on the double min minority in the country where I'm both rich and whiter than your average Jow Forumstard, most places I frequent would actually get in serious legal trouble due to draconian LP and I can actually demand my rights be observed and respected.
As for Paraguay, I think you mean shooting absolutely everyone inside the store, it being the size of a small bus and the LP guy being as well trained with a gun as a chimpanzee on meth

Retail fag here.
They're barely monitored, mostly just used to see how many people are in the store. If something does happen, we have video evidence to review later. 2 of the 10 we have are fake also.

Forgot to mention we have an "undercover" guy who's there 2x a week. Have seen quite a few busts. We can't physically arrest them, but they're banned from the store and reported to police.

Grocery stores are always majorly understaffed, so safe to say they are just recording (in black and white 320x200 at 5FPS on VHS)

That's the idea. Up until the mid 2000s or so you could pretty much get away with anything as long as you weren't recognized at the scene and didn't leave any real evidence behind. Cameras were becoming widespread back in the early 90s, but they were typically only inside of buildings and they were also shit quality.
Now you are constantly being filmed in urban areas and with the popularity of Amazon's doorbell cams that has been extended to suburban areas as well.

Attached: camera robot dancer.gif (380x402, 968K)

One time on black Friday Walmart left the cases of video games open cause it was so crowded it was like a concert. You could barely move. So I grabbed Skyrim for ps3, took the Blu Ray out and just pocketed it then dropped the box. EZ

>There's also a good chance ~60% of them are fake cameras.
And the ones that aren't have such a shitty resolution that the material is useless anyway.

You realise that's propaganda, right?

Criminals of the future will all be carrying chaff grenades.

Tyron: The Post

How'd you know what my name was?

got in here late but hopefully will be seen.

Largest grocery chain in US (17th largest company in US, 41st largest in world) has tons of cameras. The southern California camera feed goes to a control room in Los Angeles. They watch for two things: customer slips (grapes, bananas, cherries, food, oil, all cause costly slips), and quickly examine the video to see if hourly employee sweeps were done. Second, they watch employees; theft, inappropriate conduct, violent behavior. Third, they watch for crimes. The video is then sent to that city's police department. The cameras couldn't give a shit about shoplifters or lesser customer behaviors. People that hide from the cameras are kidding themselves. The company doesn't care.

Attached: 0e7950d130.jpg (300x225, 13K)

be careful anons I recently spotted a new type of security camera; it is basically the camera on a rail hidden under shiny reflective material.

at first you'd think it would be part of the lighting rails but if you look closely the camera inside moves around and sometimes follows you.

this.

they call it discretion but I somehow managed to spot it first out the corner of my eye and flicked it off when it started tracking me.

Attached: discretion_1.png (684x280, 102K)

neither

witnessed

Yeah I doubt all of them are real desu

in a small store they are probably just dumped into a rolling archive in the back room and mostly ignored, the cameras at my work are pretty much the same. a few of the cameras are probably fake or not functional, sure.

but target probably makes as much money off of customer movement and demographic data in their stores than they do selling stuff so the idea that they are not being monitored by people is pretty stupid.

Fuck off to Jow Forums

That sort of system is expensive up front and a supermarket is probably not willing to shell out the money for that.
We had it on board of the ship I worked on in the engine room. Its purpose was monitoring for fire, not for criminals, though. The video feeds were monitored by software looking for smoke or flames.

Yeah but clearly you were born after 2001 because you arent able to comprehend that george bush started two wars from one terrorist attack, plunged the budget into a debt crisis, and created the first recession of the 21st century.

But then obama came along and said hold my beer, kept the wars going for 8 more years, drone striked countless innocents, and an entirely democrat government passed a healthcare bill that only made the massively inflated healthcare costs worse, and filled insurance companies pockets to the top.

Shit has been fucked real good for a while, trumps stupid election drama and piss tape shit is weaksauce in comparison

> he doesn't know the world pre W bush
> he doesn't know the world pre internet
why live?
