Yup, don't make 'em like they used to.

Yup. Kids these days just don't get it.

>posts a shitty wintel machine instead of a Macintosh, Amiga, SGI, Sun, IBM (non-x86) etc
They make them exactly like they used to, shit and bloated, as far as Wintel goes.

Grandpa here, that was my first case, had that fake floppy and everything.

RGB watercooled cases with glass panel looks better

nice trips/dubs/dubs grandpa

finding working 386 hardware is hard. all the caps from this area are shit.

that's when compaq had a really good reputation

also dat half height 5ΒΌ" floppy

the drive in is half height, the compaq thing is more or less quarter height

This. Underperforming office boxes.

Whole OSes with graphical DEs, drivers and networking fit on a floppy. So what?
The x86 platform is bloated since the early 90's by design, DOS has nothing to do with it.

Next you're going to claim DOS is specific to x86 too. Jesus the level of "intelligence" on this board.

>Whole OSes with graphical DEs, drivers and networking fit on a floppy. So what?
on a 360k floppy even
ignore the zoomers, they watch LGR and think they are hot shit

One of the best concepts and programs ever made.
I use midnight commander daily on gnu/linux machines.
volkov commander is GOAT if you have to use DOS today for any reason.

Where did it all go so wrong?

Jow Forums was always shit

I remember using a DOS program for checking out videos when I worked in a video rental store and it was lightning fast. Then when we replaced it there was a noticeable decrease in performance, mostly because it was an awful touchscreen monstrosity.

Obviously the place is long gone, but I don't think people really remember what it used to be like for productivity software.

It used to be pretty horrible. A 128k Macintosh running a word processor was years ahead of anything you could do on the PC at the same time for example.
You could have graphical DOS programs with touch screens too though, this isn't a problem related to that but implementation.

>that fake floppy and everything.

I never understood the reasoning behind that, were they expecting you to cut out the holes for the floppy and button when installing one or what?

No, it's just cosmetic. It's like anything fake that pretends to be something else, it's for the coolness factor for poorfags.

I'm still using a Model M as we speak. As I always do.
This particular keyboard was made in 1983. It is twice the age of the 18 year olds on Jow Forums. It still works perfectly. Buckling springs are forever.

AFAIK Model Ms were made 1984 onwards.

They started earlier than that, I don't know why wiki says 1984. Mine has a 1983 sticker on it.

>"video games"
what's this supposed to mean?

Text files are still the patrician method of information sharing.
