Is this the greatest website ever created? >No ads >Never ask anything in return >Completely free >Home of open source projects >Fast >Lets you make your own website for free >Great support >Nonstop flow of valuable stuff Jow Forums likes >Linux developed there >Awesome lists for everything
I'm honestly astounded. How can one website be so fucking good? How can it respect its users so much? The other big creator website that comes to mind is Youtube, but that is on the complete other end of the spectrum. Ads all the time. Constantly asking for money. Placing bullshit restrictions on content. Killing channels for corporate interest. I guess the only thing I can say is thank you Linus Torvalds and Richard Stallman for creating this awesome technological world we live in.
also the best thing about this is if they steal code from a githuber and use it to build windows or whatever tools they need, you will never know because everything is closed source on microsoft's end.

>You retain ownership of and responsibility for Your Content. I guess inceldom also causes dyslexia.
Josiah King
you believe everything you read on the internet, champ?
Colton Davis
>steals your dyslexia
Michael Parker
There are tons of websites that host your git repos. It's nothing special at all.
Colton Campbell
At least they don't serve Crimeans, Syrians, Iranians, Cubans or North Koreans.
Henry Nguyen
I certainly believe a corporation with thousands of businesses as clients more than I believe some anonymous seething faggot on a Pakistani ping-pong enthusiast forum.
Lucas Martinez
That sentence I read turns out to be legally binding, so I'll give more credit to it than to some 8ch retard's paranoid ramblings.
David Moore
>hires better lawyers than you >greases politicians
Benjamin Richardson
well, i cant speak for every user, but i know that i dont have any sort of incentive to lie on an anonymous korean smoke signaling forum if microsoft has the ability to steal code and turn a profit from it, why would you assume they dont? why so you give them the banafit of the doubt? how does their business model make any sense? >steal code >release it in binary >dont publish source >never punished pssh, nothin' personal
Luis Parker
>why so you give them the banafit of the doubt? holy shit im so sorry everyone
Thomas Williams
>WebMForRetards banned from github for having "Retards" in their name not based >ban literal terrorists and watch them seethe all over twitter and reddit based thank you github
Jordan Reed
>>dont publish source I did it. Argument invalid.
Logan Rodriguez
>8ch user, I hate to tell you this... 8ch*n is dead. It happened just a few days ago. This is 4channel.

what?
Justin Harris
>>Completely free As in free beer. GitHub is proprietary. >>Home of open source projects Home of (((most))) (((smaller))) open source projects. GNU, Xorg, GNOME hava their own version control servers, to name a few. >>Linux developed there Thats a mirror. >>Awesome lists for everything Less than GitLab
Anthony Harris
>closed source closed source is a meme, Just decomplile it retard its that easy
Okay, decompile the windows source code. And I mean the whole thing, all of windows 10. Post it on github and then we'll take bets on how fast it gets taken down

decompiling something for your own purposes is legal. decompiling something and then sharing it is not. dont twist words around.
Gabriel Taylor
Nice backpedal. The point of open source is that sharing is legal.
Jaxson Perry
you must be some new type of retard. there ARE languages where, after compiled, can't be decompiled. I know that this is a lot for your pea-brain to process, but hopefully in time, you will understand.

Which repo should/could I contribute to as a CS student and beginner?

Try contributing to Alacritty if you know some Rust.

github pages is kinda neat, the reason why I'm still sticking to github
Luke Nguyen
> Would it develop sentience No, it would simplify itself to printf.
Nathan Russell
>just decompile it retard Good luck decompiling -O3 C/C++ code retard. And deciphering the meaning of code with no variable or function names.

Imagine McDonald's opening giant kitchens where everyone could come and cook meals for free to serve McDonald's customers.
And retards praising this model.

Bait and switch because Windows acquired it, already suffering outages and stuff

So basically millions of ordinary people who have done nothing wrong are being gated away from free software Such a fascist company to work with
Adam Bell
I don't see the problem.
Charles Murphy
>Windows acquired it
Oliver Foster
Its worse than gitlab in pretty much every way, except for the size of the community around it...
Colton Kelly
>Just decomplile it retard Irrelevant, you can't realistically deduce whether or not a piece of code was stolen. Also good luck decompiling windows for a couple of thousand hours to try and figure out whether or not they infringed on your license LMAO.
>deletes code they think is "offensive" based on the orders of Sarskeezyan and the ADL
Hunter Bell
>How can one website be so fucking good? How can it respect its users so much? Because it was only bought by Microsoft recently. Wait a couple of years and then you'll see.

Jace Collins
isn't that because they're hosted in us? what can they do about regulation?
William Rodriguez
there's already gitea and gitlab, why would you want to create an alternative?
Camden Cooper
Because it's a tool for NSA to install malware on computers that fetch software from github as part of software installation process.
This is how it works: >Hello this is NSA, look there's this guy if he downloads any software from github backdoor it with the usual payload, his ip is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx >Ok sir, that IP is added, have a fine day. >xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx downloads some program from github >installs malware >xxx.xxx.xxx.xxy downloads same program >gets normal non-backdoored version because not on the list
Jayden Hall
if you have any interesting JS front end stuff think about adding a CodePen.io account. I've learned some really unique tricks there.
