The worst player on desktop PCs

>the worst player on desktop PCs
>the best Android video player and good enough to play your music, too.

How can this be?

Why isn't there any better video player for Android than VLC?

mpv is the best player on Android.

no its not. it's not even getting regular releases and has zero features

MX Player is the best Android video player. Can play any music too.

>releases
umu

>MX Player is the best Android video player.
Indian botnet? No thanks.

Cope, it's objectively the best one.

The best Android video player is NOVA. It's even better for Android TV.

Source code
>If you want bleeding edge functionality, link against git versions of FFmpeg or if a package for your platform is not available or updated, you can build mpv from source code. The helper build scripts are recommended for most users since they perform a static build of FFmpeg and libass as well as mpv.
Have at it.

MX Player is like ES File Explorer now
Used to be great but now it's filled with useless fucking intrusive ads. You have to go dig through apkmirror for older versions.

Just buy or pirate the pro version. It's one of the apps that's actually worth the money.

>paying for a video player
literally kys

Aye, fpbp.

Seething

More like laughing at you for paying for a video player. Might as well go pay for ffmpeg, lol.

Yea, I've donated to the project. Keep seething

>the worst player on desktop PCs
1. What's wrong with it?
2. What's a better one?

>1. What's wrong with it?
shit playback
>2. What's a better one?
mpv or mpc-hc

> garbage on windows
> garbage on android
> garbage on linux
why does this piece of shit exist?

I use mpv on desktop and whatever the fuck is on my iPad.

I've NEVER had a problem with VLC on Desktop and I've used it since 2010. Care to clue me in on why it's shit?

vlc is good on android

>Care to clue me in on why it's shit?
just keep using that buggy, shitty mess that is the joke of the video playback world. it's well known that vlc is shit. there's countless memes about how shitty it is.

That's not really an answer as to why it's shit, so I guess I will then.

VLC is far from the worst player on desktop. There are better, but it has the advantage of being normie friendly.

>VLC is far from the worst player on desktop.
Definitely not the worst, since there's literally botnet players and players made by idiots who can't code, but it's still shit.

>the worst player on desktop PCs
no, its better than mpv but lower than mpchc
not even a decent one
>no its not.
yes
>getting regular releases
whats the point of constant releases ? its a shitty idea and waste of time
unironically the most reliable video player I ever used on android
just isolate or fake its permissions
based wealthy poster
just buy it or pirate it, its not that hard
>complaining about paid software
fuck off commie
why should I use it? what so good about it?

@72231473
>Whoring for attention this much.

I'm sorry to say this, but MX Player is way better.
Even if you use the version with ads it's a better UX than VLC.

Two things that piss me off about Android VLC:
>rescan folders on startup
doesn't actually work
>change playback speed
glitches and interrupts, not to mention it's clumsy to do, whereas on MX it's a simple two finger gesture

Arguably even MPV-Android is better.

WOMM
>it's bad, trust me.

but MPV-Android is only for phones ?
i can't install this shit to my TV

VLC shills are the worst

>why yes, i do pay for software, how did you know?

it's ok to donate to FOSS

Why the fuck are you dumb zoomers watching videos on your phone anyway?

Android works on TVs, user. I use VLC on my TV.

>it's not even getting regular release
The desktop version doesn't either.

I use the latest shinchiro builds. They come out whenever important commits are posted. Mine is less than a week old.

It *is* the best Android player and a rather mediocre desktop one, but it's actually exactly the same on both. That tells you more about the platforms than the player.

>it's actually exactly the same on both
not really. the reason the android one is better is because it is mostly based on Android native libraries.

Not really. VLC uses its own decoders and players, which is why it can play formats that native Android doesn't support (e.g. Opus, on older devices also FLAC).

>VLC uses its own decoders and players
you mean own decoder and custom player made for Android. Only thing it shares with the WIndows version is the libvlc decoding, sub, etc library.

MPV is not even a decent player for the shits I take.

>worst player
Is it really? Sure, it's not great, and a little obscure here and there, but I wouldn't call it the worst.
Although I haven't used it much in recent years, I did recently install it again because I hoped it could play a video stream rip that had gone bad. It couldn't, but neither could any other player. It did play the backup player role pretty well usually. If VLC couldn't play it, it was truly fucked.

Why? Because they don't mindlessly take your opinion for truth?
Yeah, that is the worst. Evidence is gay.

Isn't Winamp also a media-player?

just use mpv once and you will never be able to go back to vlc

Nah, I have mpv, but I've always preferred potplayer. I don't even like VLC's interface myself, but if anons call it the worst shit player and expect everyone to just take their word for it, then fuck 'm. It's not the greatest player out there, but as far as I remember, it works fine.

PotPlayer is fucking based gook black magic. It was the only player that managed to run 1080p video without problems on my shitty old C2D.

VLC is the best music player for Android as well.

>no gapless playback
>no ReplayGain
it's a joke

since mpv-android fixed the portrait mode it's been the best. also ytdl functionality was added in some pull request recently. don't know if an official release already has it but there's an apk in the pull request. for example you can now easily watch your animuh directly from crunchyroll (1080p, free, legal). vlc can't do that.

it's not really that usable
