Anybody using bluetooth amp + dac? They're pretty comfy for moving around your house but obviously lower quality than audiophool setups that cost hundreds of dollaridoos.

Are there any better headphones than the hd58x for its price range? I've been thinking about buying these for a while

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 177K)

Dunno haven't used them before. If they are just 598s improved then go for it.

They should be HD 598 with a tad more bass, haven't tried 598 tho. But should be better for warm anyway

I would still recommend the 598s over 58Xs. I haven't used 58Xs before but I have used hd650s and the headband/enclosure from the 58X looks to be from the 600 series. I prefer the 598 enclosure/headband to the ones used in the 600 series because they are lighter, more comfortable, lighter clamp, and have a way more open sound. Also I've had the 598s for over 10 years and the earpads are still as deep as they were when I bought them, whereas my 650s earpads have become permanently squished.

Well I don't mind build quality too much. Just more concerned about which one sounds better. I know the pads on both 598s and 58xs are replaceable anyways right?

>tfw small head
how do I cope with this? most headphones do not seal at all

The 58x seems to have more bass based on FR graphs. I would guess thats due to the more closed enclosure. The 650s have a more closed sound compared to the 598s so I would guess thats the same case for 58X. 598s are definitely lighter, and more comfortable than the 650s. The 650s have way more bass, but that might be due to my shrunken earpads.

its /iemg/ retard

thicc pads or bend the head band inwards so the cups pass each other. should increase clamp

>I know the pads on both 598s and 58xs are replaceable anyways right?
Yeah they are really easy to replace. They just pop in and out. They're held in place by friction.

Takstar 580s are comparable but they are $199 right now, they used to be $160.

I'm looking to get a DAC/AMP before getting a better set of heaphones. I'm seeing some described as DAC/headphone amp or DAC/speaker amp, sometimes preamp, and similar terms. Currently I've got a pair of stereo speakers plugged into the 3.5mm at the back of my mobo, and when I want to use my headphones I just plug them into the front panel 3.5mm jack and all audio is routed to that device, and back to speakers when I unplug. What do Iook for that retains similar convenience? Thanks.

I refuse to get used to foam tips. They'll shit the bed sooner rather than later, and then I'd have to buy another pair. Fuck that.

spend money on good silicones. shoulda known from the start

>Opinions on the DT 990 Pro
If they are anything like the OG DT990 then don't, they are treble cannons. Get the K612/K702 depending on wether you prefer bass or a detachable cable.
Get a DAC with both RCA and minijack outputs and hook the amp up through RCA and the speakers through minijack or a DAC/Amp combo with similar characteristics.

What's a good pair? I was thinking about spinfits for my Oxygen later this year.

spinfits are nice. sony hybrids, JVC spiral dots, Final E type, Acoustune AET07 and 08. depends on what you like and how it fits you

literally fucking Galaxy buds
not sure if they have the samsung gear app on ios but still should be good.

/iemg/ is up

Dammit bro, I've been looking for the Powerbeats Pro (I fucking hate beats but love that stupid design and the Hey Siri bullshit) but Galaxy Buds, jesus, I might get those and if they are not that good for me, might get those other ones (Because airpods look like stupid qtips)

how do I stop doing risky things?
I put my amp on high gain and rotate the volume knob until I cant hear the music and start hearing high frequency ringing
am I psychopathic? I cant scratch this itch and keep engaging in self-harming behavior

Galaxy Buds are not water prof.

powerbeats are gross. gbuds are a pretty good harman tws

youre 1) a retard and 2) going to go deaf at probably a pretty young age

sub $150
best ANC
bluetooth would be nice
very opened to used market / ebay

just tried a ausdom anc10 and it sucks ass. doesnt clamp at the right angle, or firmly enough. the anc functionality on it is super subpar.

i have a audiotechnica ath-anc9 but i dont have high hopes (also no bt, rip)

>Get the K612/K702 depending on wether you prefer bass or a detachable cable.
Any other big noticeable differences between these two? I can get the K612 for 80 euros.

The biggest difference is, if I'm not mistaken, better bass and less treble on the K612 but the lack a detachable cable which the K702 have and the headband is better on the K702. If you want a mix of both you should get the K712. If you really can't spend that much or if you really don't want to wait then the K612 would probably be better.

Is there no cheap device that can do both headphone and stereo amplification?

get a sound level meter, they are surprisingly accurate. I find >80db intolerable nowadays. Generally listen at 70db.

There isn't afaik. Home theater amps usually have a 1/4 out for headphones, or at least they did back in the day.

JDS Labs Atom. An amp.

AKG K702
m1060 or m1060c

doesn't ship to where i live unfortunately

HD600.

Yeah they can, I'd just love a single device that is designed as a dedicated headphone amp/dac but with enough power for a 2.0/2.1 stereo amp nothing fancy. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet on this one :(

>m1060 or m1060c

Looks solid, thanks. Too bad they don't exist in my country and I can't try 'em out so I have to take the reviewers word for it. Do these need an amp preferably? They don't have huge impendance it seems.

everyone abandoned thread ;o;
which... i'm just glad they don't do this all year round.

Neither need an amp. They're pretty efficient for planars. The m1060 has a little bit of harshness in the treble, but the m1060c doesn't. I would say the m1060c is an improvement on the m1060 and can also be easily modded to be open.

Attached: IMG_1691.jpg (1920x1280, 877K)

I've seen people seriously unhappy with this model in previous threads, berating those who recommended it.

Rev 1 or rev 2? Rev 1s were bad. Rev 2 addressed the issues from rev 1.

Wouldn't you be able to mod the 1060 to be closed too?

I don't think theres much point doing that. If you want closed get m1060c, the wooden cups are gorgeous. They're the same price I believe. The m1060c also have an inherently better driver too.

Nevermind, $50 more. But its a lot easier to open mod the m1060c than it is to close mod the m1060 since I haven't seen any closed parts for the m1060. Open grills for the m1060c are though:

If us/canada you can get from amazon.

Arent the ones on Amazon the closed ones?

I have the an old Kenwood amp that has power for both headphones and speakers got it for like $40used.

Eventually I'd like to hear one of these. Judging by the graph on Innerfidelity it seems to measure pretty well. There doesn't seem to be any major technical flaws, anyway.

Each day I am thankful for Stax.

Stupid question here: I have some HD 600,is an amp really necessary? Is there any data or is it just word of mouth and placebo?

They help if you have a noisy source. If you don't notice any noise when there isn't any music playing, I'd say don't bother with a dedicated amp.

Amp is of no benefit.

This must be the trustedreviews of headphones.

Most on-board amplifiers are capable of driving high impedance headphones these days without any issue, the HD 600 are not particularly difficult.

yep

my 770 80ohm is pretty quite on my iPhone XR and MacBook. What portable amp to get?

If you actually read what you posted, Stax smashes the Philips in sound quality.

Who the fuck cares about sound quality?

They're basically the most entry-level of entry-level enthusiast headphones. Better than no-name garbage, but just barely. Pretty much anything mentioned in the thread is better than them.

entry-level garbage

what's a good next step to take bros

Faggot

I think Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80s are a fantastic alternative. Proper mid range, great soundstage and imaging for a closed headphone, good isolation, supremely comfortable, and they're easy to drive, but improve with high quality amping.

I actually think they're probably the best value in all of headphones as far as closed-backs go.

I got mine today. a bit quiet from my iPhone XR and MacBook. But, pretty great nonetheless.
Long cable! Something to keep in mind.

Honestly? Go for the cheapest planars you can afford.

500MB for FLAC, 162MB for 320kbps mp3s

Why should I go for the FLACs again?
