you are wrong ethernet is faster than wifi

you tell em user.

EM waves are faster than cobber signal.

>using the NPC face
>implying NPCs even know what ethernet is
>implying NPCs even know what wi-fi is
An NPC I was talking with the other day was surprised to find out that Wi-Fi doesn't equate to Internet.

>muh transformer router

PREACH

this shit is really bad I blame modern phones and os for this shit, in win10 you can't turn on hotspot on your laptop without internet. and in new android phones and iphones too, if you want to turn on hotspot you must be connected to internet, this shit sucks.
in my old lolipop phone I can atleast turn on hotspot without internet or something if we want to play shit like quake in office or school.

>l-latency is practically the same, I don't regret going wireless

Ethernet is faster and much more stable.

>Router flips over and scuttles away
God DAMN it

You should still be able to make your wireless connection an access point. The hotspot option/feature would just set up internet sharing along with the access point mode.
Don't know about Android and iPhone, though.

Actually, technically wireless is faster than Ethernet, because the speed of light is faster in air than in copper.
But in reality there is added latency when converting to and from wireless, so in short distances copper really does out do wireless, when it comes to Wi-Fi at least. Some wireless protocols have far less overhead and can compete in latency with even short distance copper.

Well, latest standard 802.11ax (theoretically) faster than 10Gbps Ethernet.

of course wifi is faster
there are no walls between the PC and the router, dummy

ax is as expensive as 15-20gbps+ switches and cabling.

I might get ax next year when they introduce cheap consumer 10gbps, but i doubt americans or western european could even buy those speeds.

> because the speed of light is faster in air than in copper
Not really. In wires speed of signal depends on insulation material and wire construction (they affect the distributed capacitance and inductance).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_factor

the modem follows you around the house with its 8 legs to make sure you always have the best Wifi signal possible

And it still cannot beat wifi waves in air.

Wireless will always be more susceptible to interference, and wireless was always behind wired in speed and reliability, wired internet was and is much faster than any mobile internet or satellite connection, be it via copper or fiber.
Wireless exists because it has practical applications that wired can't solve, not because of performance, this will probably never change, its just physics.

He is comparing the worst possible kind of wired connection with the best wireless there is, the typical fallacy from a delusional fanatic on his "anti-boomer" crusade, who doesn't understand telecommunications or Electrical Engineering at all.

Diff in a mere millisecond between the two. You are all a bunch of arrogant illiterate faggots arguying about what to do while watching the paint drying.

And let's disregard all that packet loss while we're at it

>What is interference
>What are walls and floors
>What is congestion of a band
The only illiterate here is you, we talk again when you get a job and have everyone hooked up on the same shitty wifi connection, meanwhile keep using wifi at home to watch porn and play world of warcraft, for that for sure you will not notice any difference sport.

Ethernet? What's an Ethernet? You mean a WiFi cable? I bet you have green bubbles user.

Illiterate FAGGOT, answer this: Exactly what are the advantages in the real world?
I need to connect over 1000 computers, clustered and separated by several kilometers.
Can your magical WiFi help me with this?

Spoilers: NO you FAGGOT! We already went with the fastest solution fiber optics and gigabit Ethernet, cost effective solution.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter your elitist tendencies, what's matters is the cost vs advantage, since it's OBVIOUS that you don't even work on IT, you presume your elitism.
At the end of the day, the one that wins is Capitalism, you commie FAGGOT!

Ethernet is faster and more reliable than wifi.

Wifi is half duplex and thus garbage by definition.

Tfw you have 30dBm (1W) wifi signal. Will my brains melt?

the real issue under ideal conditions comes from Wi-Fi being half-duplex
