why are programmers so fucking autistic?
is it because it's the americans who come up with this crap since they can't understand the metric system?

l2binary, dumb frogposter
>mib
let this shit meme die
3072kb is easily divisible by 8.
>obsessed poster cant into toddler level comp sci
3mb is 3000kb
dumb frogposter
Using GNU+linux for 15, and I still can't partition a drive so that df -h shows available space in nice round numbers.
Every time this particular pepe is used in an OP, the take presented ends up being monumentally retarded.
I hoped they would ban this shit like they did with pony trash but no everyone is incompetent nowadays.
>3 mb is 3072 kb
No. 3Mb are 3000Kb or 2.86102Mib
3MB = 3 x 1024KB = 3072KB
baka @ fucking retards in this thread
Yes, it's Mib or MiB depending on what you mean.
mib would be millibit, not an useful unit.
> 3MiB = 3 x 1024KiB = 3072KiB
Corrected what was surely a typo.
For computing yes, for information theory or what's it called it's a very legitimate unit.
It is also MiB or MB in information theory. If you're using SI prefixes like "mega" and "tera", they just mean 10^6 and 10^12 times whatever follows. Doesn't matter if it's a bit, byte, sperm cells or yarn balls.
No exceptions even for Microsoft.
Thank you very much for correcting my typo, my dear user friend.
The sljivovica is to blame btw.
fuck off
nobody called it a 'mib' until several years ago
you fucks are cancer
This is because not all computers back then considered a byte to be 8 bits.
Think ancient mainframes
I mean millibit is a legitimate unit. As in 10^(-3) bits.
# parted -a none
unit mib (or gib if you prefer)
mkpart
...
Start: (for example 765432)
End: (your fs size + 765432)
quit
Your fs size should be multiple of 1024 MiB
kys
>they can't understand the metric system
maybe because base 10 is irrelevant in computing as binary is the best system we have? Also MiB {not mib} is a better system than MB {MiB is related to powers of 2 unlike MB}
