I think SSHD's are a good compromise between storage space and speed. I use a 2TB one in my ThinkPad to store video files. It depends on what you are storing on it mainly. If you were playing games a large SSD would be a good idea since games in the current year use quite a bit of space and do benefit from the increase in speed.
