Can you project right onto the white wall?

The wall is actually a blue like Jow Forums is and the screen is grey. But yes I suppose I could

Is it OK with light walls?
I want a projector but light walls in the room are stopping me.

I am certainlu buying a screen with a projector.

Can't say I get it. A center plug can serve an acoustic function and extend the heatsink if it is made of metal.
Bumps integrated on the structure of the cone can increase the rigidity of the cone geometrically, or at least better distribute what modes do exist. But looking at it, that's not is going on here. Perhaps they are here to extend the upper-frequency response?

I don't remember the answer you gave me, but how is the noise with the fan so close to the listening position?

didn't think I'd find a reel to reel at a local secondhand shop, but here we are. Akai GX-625, powers on and the VU meters work, but I don't know about playback because I don't have any tape for it. I also got stands for my JBL 4408s

Attached: akai.jpg (550x1200, 185K)

Why would you buy an RTR without anything to use on it?

I've planned on getting a reel to reel for a while - completing my hi-fi. It'd be a waste of money to buy reels without a player for them, waiting for a good deal on a top of the line player or an almost top of the line one. Thankfully, this was a killer deal. I'm looking at getting tapes here soon

Pre amp: Marantz 7704
Power amp: Parasound A52+ (225 watts in stereo, 185 in 5 channel)
Sub amp: NX6000D

Pic related. Shit quality in dark but it represents color accurately I believe

>I don't remember the answer you gave me, but how is the noise with the fan so close to the listening position?
Bothers me in quiet scenes personally but my roommate doesn't even notice it. But I also know the fan is slightly louder than it should be if it was replaced

they received a good review from whathifi
on the warm side

So a guy at a garage sale gave me a bigass corner speaker for next to nothing
It has 2 pairs of wires and came with a cut off power cable
I found 2 of the wires are sound but the other 2 I assume are power because this sounds like shit
Idk how to test a power plug without blowing myself up what do

Attached: IMG_20190810_234143.jpg (4000x3000, 1.76M)

post the model

This was hand built in like the 70s
Completely custom cabinet and it looks like a 12" driver with a horn tweeter
The guy who lived in the house had a ton of diy electronics equipment lying around

Attached: IMG_20190810_234816.jpg (4000x3000, 1.41M)

Reminds me of a Klipsch Rebel. I don't understand why it would have a power cord and speaker wire though

Idk either but it's live lol
I just blew up the port on my crap receiver

unscew it and find out

I still wouldn't know which wire is which on the power plug
Basically this speaker is fucking huge so that's why it has a built in power

Yeah this is an active speaker
I got it working ^,,^
God bless this thing is cool

post internals

Found these today. $4/pair. Heavy all-steel outer cabinet. Heavy duty magnets. Giant-sized tweeter. Longer-stroke "woofer" to make up for the smaller size. Not shielded lol.

Yesterday I got rid of my tapedeck. It felt bad, but there was no point in keeping it around anymore.

Attached: s-l1600.jpg (1600x1200, 374K)

I gave my cr3 to a friend a long time ago.

Definitely, I can still vaguely smell the haggis and kilt on them.
The ones before these happened to be old Philips's too. Closed box, which I haven't seen anymore since then. They were cheap, but their sound was pretty great.

Attached: HTB1F5ddQpXXXXcCXXXXq6xXFXXX3.jpg (700x497, 52K)

Yes. It says Optimus Pro7a on the back, but pretty much the same parts. I have to clean off the putty and dust it off. Its built like a tank. Sound quality for music is good for vocals and fast tracks, but no bass.

Attached: 20190810_211601_HDR.jpg (2560x1440, 897K)

There's like a 1k page thread about them on audiokarma. It seems people think they can be improved by modding the xo.

your cd skips when you walk around right?

Thanks - I'll take a look at those later today. Decent little speaker, especially the fabric dome tweeter.

You are psychic. It doesn't skip when I walk because the shelf is resting on concrete, but the top of the unit is extremely sensitive to anything placed on it, and will absolutely skip if you put a CD case on top while its playing. It will not play most discs made after 1995 also. Not complaining since it was around $11. I use it mostly to route music from phone via a 3.5mm plug to L/R RCA.

i keep mine just to look at all the pretty lights

I just want good sound for my TV that I run off my computer, but fuck, everything is so complicated.

My on-board audo has a SPDIF output, I guess I need to get an amplifier and "unpowered" speakers? I'm using Creative computer speakers right now but they're probably not very good. Send help pls

this looks great but probably due to lighting and the pic is shopped
or maybe I'm just sad because I imagine this is something a girlfriend would organize for her bf and nobody would ever dos omething like that for me
go on without me bros

where do you live

im asking so i can send a black ops strike team to assasinate you, and also to determine if you live in a place that has good audio deals

Attached: between science and art.jpg (1280x720, 51K)

I'm a Britfag and assume that audio equipment must at least be available somewhere in my country.

Why do you think you can not use active speakers?

Attached: 19581402-castle-gateway-with-portcullis.jpg (870x1300, 158K)

Oh yes, if you have the space for it, you should definitely keep those beauties around.
Sometimes it's really just a shame technology improves and nice things get outdated.

Jow Forums doesn't even know
about saba green cones

he could, but passive systems are cheaper, more versatile, and tend to have less intrinsic noise/cost

you could get a micro system like this or something similar:
ebay.co.uk/itm/Technics-HD310-Micro-Hifi-Component-System-Amp-CD-Tuner-Cassette-Read-Fault/223615148756

there are many brands that are good like jvc, aiwa but its important to look at the back plate because some newer models have NO INPUTS; the "vintage" models tend to have more power, and actual inputs for normal speakers, and RCA/SPDIF inputs for multiple devices, and some even have an optical input/output; the newer models sometimes have funky speaker connects and nothing else

they usually run between pretty cheap because the owner wants to get rid of it, up to about 75 pounds; usually if you pick it up it will be 30-50 pounds

if you want more power or hdmi, the cost goes higher and higher

Attached: 111.jpg (1200x1600, 288K)

this is what a bad backplate looks like; notice the horrific speaker connection

Attached: bad sony bad.jpg (1294x557, 171K)

All right thanks user, I guess I'm feeling out of my depth because this isn't like shopping for PC components.

Seems a lot harder to judge quality when you don't have objective numbers to compare.

Don't really feel like taking this apart. There's paint in the screws, nonremovable grill, and he drilled holes in it to let the wires out.

Cleaned up the putty and some of the dust. Painted the white grille to black because the grille was worn in front, and the contrast makes the white cabinet look cleaner. It's amazing how repainting the grille makes it look much better. Woofer surround is like new - the prior owner must have kept this in a room without much sun, since the speaker is from around 1993.

Attached: 20190811_081214_HDR-Combo.jpg (1188x675, 594K)

quality-wise, many of the basic parts of these micro systems look like they were made in the same factory, and these systems usually sat in some grampa's study, played at low levels

most micro systems pair well with inexpensive speakers like and are decent performers and better than tv soundbars and logitech type offerings, and the risk is low because the cost is about the same as a dinner out

nice, btw

you should see if they're worth alot on the vintage market

now the badge is fucked you utter philistine

One of the grilles had an abrasion across the entire front including the badge causing a bare metal effect. It looks better now all one color. Looks good in a clearer pic also.

Well it's a single corner speaker
And yeah I could probably sell it for a bit but I'd rather just keep it and use it... If I had a corner to put it in lol

After the second coat.

Old ass pic
- Sica 1100s in huge horn/ported hybrid encosures
- HK 3380 meme stereo amplifier
- looped in miniDSP as an eq to make the speakers enjoyable and compensate the lack of a loudness eq on the amp
- Denon DP-300F currently with Grado Prestiege Black 2; Nagaoka MP-110 is on the way

these room acoustics got to be terrible.
Hang heavy, wavy curtains on the wall to dampen and reduce standing wave modes.
Props for huge subs.

Thats a nice and minimal Turntable and its semi auto.
I prefer full auto though. Its a shame there are almost no modern full autos

wut, time pop those zits

youtu.be/0tt3QHRiaRI

Got a bunch out of huge old ass ELA speakers. (6x 8" drivers per speaker or so) Sold them individually for good money on ebay. They are a bit of a meme though. I like my modern broadband speakers more.

Attached: 2.jpg (5338x3648, 1.83M)

Lol I got a hk av receiver for free at a recycling center
It has some harsh noise so I probably need to go in and fix something but I really can't be arsed. Plus it was a rack pull so it has no feet and the bottom can tear up a surface.

Why is everyone buying second hand stuff? Other people have touched it, that's awful
