still rocking 2011/2012 here and its doing fine.

Based and sandypilled

Based, FX-8350 at 4.5 is actually really good if you've still got one.

Attached: FX-8350.png (428x421, 59K)

still using it, still plays games just fine
not sure why it says windows 8, as i'm running 10 1807

Attached: Untitled.png (1217x746, 54K)

if gaming only? you can get by with it. but yea, for everything else its time to upgrade. i just upgraded from 3570k i had for ages to a 2700x and difference is big.

Cinebench R15 only understands up to windows 8.

I get 727 on that bitch at 4.5.

i have a lot less voltage though, and am still stable. Full load with top flow air cooler is sitting at 45c

if your R15 score is above 1000 you paid too much for a placebo
if your R15 score is below 500 your CPU is shit
based 2500k / FX-8350 chads

i mean, ill be honest, i wish it was more power efficient. But not enough to get a new mobo, ram, and board...

>cores running in 100%
>cannot run a video and games

no way nigger shit on it's last breath the question is to upgrade to zen2 or wait for zen 2+

I can get 4.5 with less volts, but it won't pass AVX on prime 95, which is important to me because I can't have this crashing while rendering and writing to my storage hard drive.

it has no issues playing Dirt Rally, Forza Horizon 4, Doom etc at 2560x1440 with a RX580. I dont really see a need to upgrade right now.

the only title i have that it struggles in is Ass Creed Odyssey, and its still GPU limited there.

mine passes Intel Burn with AVX by AgentGOD at an hour. I found that only multiplier clocks with mine were stable : messing with the FSB, the HT layer, or NB renders it unstable no matter what. Ram above 1866 also renders it unstable for some reason, even if the ram is rated to run there.

I export video with it for hours sometimes days continuously with no issues.

this is jpegged to hell by grabbing it from my telegram but this was after an electrical storm and a bios corruption. It locked up about 2 minutes later while trying to shut it off.

>AMD at 10ghz since 2011
>Intel at 5ghz in 2018
How will Intcels recover from this?

easy, they have double the IPC and dont need to run as fast?

Wh-what do you mean an old 4 core CPU is ok?? You -need- 8 cores and 16 threads or you should be literally unable to play any games in 2019!!! The only game anyone plays or ever will play is Assassassin's Creed!!!!!!!! STOP IIIIIIIT

But then incels make fun of AMD for not being 5GHz when ryzen is more efficient than Intel 14nm+++++

>clockspeeds don't matter!
I thought IPC suddenly don't matter when amd is better at it?

i dunno man, im still using an FX chip in 2019. Like i even care.

Do you run videogames + videos+chats etc.

I know I have been milking my athlon ii for all its worth these past 10-12 years

I leave telegram and IRC up, and often stream music via youtube while playing some games and have no issues. I also tend to leave BOINC running on up to 50% of my threads when the pc is on.

I feel like a lot of people complaining about their CPU bottle neck is just to have something to whine about. Yes, my CPU bottlenecks the GPU... but do i really care that a game only runs at 90FPS versus 120FPS, when my display is only 60hz?

No...no I Dont.

>90FPS versus 120FPS
>tfw this is iterally Ryzen vs Intel since 2017 and Intel uses double the energy

guess I pass then.
I'll do a new build in 1.5-2 years time when I have the money to spend retarded amounts on watercooling and performance that I don't need.

Attached: cinebench.jpg (505x611, 48K)

This is enough computer for you.

Attached: 152-mac-mini-2018.jpg (868x488, 38K)

>tfw U class CPU computers and NUCs are more than enough for a shitposting machine but but Jow Forums won't admit it

you can even shitpost on a raspberry pi

Pi 4 is good enough, can confirm although I mostly use it for media and game streaming.

does rpi4 do HEVC?

yes, 8 and 10-bit. I've only tested up to 4k 8-bit but I don't see why 10-bit would be an issue.
The software support isn't entirely there yet, but a good amount is usable.

I've been waiting on new processor for years but I'm still not convinced fully because my cpu does what I need without any issue.

Attached: e5.png (382x612, 27K)

does your cpu do what you need, or do you compromise for your cpu?

It does what I need.

what I don't get is both systems are going to cost $1000-1500 for anything decent..
honestly $2k for stuff that is 8 months old...
and we can afford that, and yet then add on monitors and keyboards and streaming services ect ect ect.and on top of that 90% of you are just gaming anyways
and then you get the argument about energy usage like suddenly you cant afford the extra $10-30/month

Implying that + a rack isn't the peak setup

> seriously using a vishera in 2019
> when a 1700x plus mobo and memory is like 200
you're probably waiting for Doom Eternal to come out to see what specs you need and just talking about rendering to act like you're not just a gamer and a walmart greeter

i7 is a meme processor bought by iphonefags

I actually have been considering first gen ryzen because the value is amazing on it, my uncle got an hp rig for 650 with the 1700 and an RX550.

My 8350 just isn't bogging, so I don't spend the money, but I would love a 65w ryzen.

windows 10 with every update is making my i5-2500k seem slow, planned obsolesce is real and it runs deep.

this is false, unless you like your CPU looking like this while running simple things like twitch streams

Attached: 1565499765.jpg (809x589, 245K)

>twitch streams

Attached: 1476667812156.webm (1920x1080, 427K)

Put a 2600k in that piece and you're good again competing with modern low end systems.

no, both those CPUs are antiquated pieces of shit

mobile broadwell throttled at 700mhz here
feels good to have little to no heat, no fan noise and very low power consumption

more cores make the chip bulkier and slow it down

less cores give you superior speed

Well. What would a i7 3520 not be able to do, zoomers? Not a gaymer btw

>This is all you need even in 2019

>upgraded from 3570k to 3700X.
>Instantly games run hugely better in FPS, better frame timings and no stuttering
>shit compiles fast
>everything is fucking instant
>can emulate shit smoothly
>can multitask and watch youtube etc at the same time without every core being pegged at 100% and making my games lag
>no need for the monthly security update that kills speeds because Intel can't into chip design

Feels good not being a corelet. Fuck Intel.

This 12 core beast will last you 10 more years. $50 on aliexpress great OC.

Attached: scrot.png (1224x790, 141K)

>>can multitask and watch youtube etc at the same time
Wouldn't anything recent be capable of that? Or does amd's extra cores really make a significant difference?

>-50.0*C

I rencently switched from 2500k to 3700x
even the OS feels more responsive now, let alone gaymes and programs
it was a good CPU but it's time to move on

>mfw posting from rpi 2b

>cannot OC
discarded

It can with multiplier and base clock. That's why it's running at 4.4GHz and easily plays all games ever at stable 60fps 0.1%s.

Sure thing nigga, I love waiting for my encodes for days instead of running them on my 3700X

still using i5 2400 in 2019

My budget gaming rig runs an i5 2500k and a 1050ti. It still runs amazing to this day lol

wrong, this is all you need

>Was waiting for Ryzen 3 to finally replace it
>Its been since what 2011, so its finally time to let the old guy rest
>Not impressed with 3's performance
>New games still run perfectly fine on high if paired with a modern GPU

>Now waiting for Ryzen 4

Attached: didn't care neither.png (640x480, 162K)

nigga I can hit 1440p@60 in Dirt Rally with a GTX 760

This is true. I5 3570k though and I just recently benefitted from having pci 3.0 with nvme drives, no reason to upgrade

My i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz with 8gb 2000mhz CL9 DDR3 has been through 3 different GPUs over the last 8 years.

>HD5870 1gb
>R9 290 4gb
>GTX 1070 8gb

Still bottlenecked by GPU at 1440p

I encode 4k with x265.
So, no.

your 9700k is bascially a 6900k without hyperthreading
loling @ ur life

I'm doing the same upgrade next week. Hope it's gonna go smooth.

Games don't benefit from hyperthreading. A 9700k is the best gaming cpu you can get at the moment because 8 physical cores with the best IPC on the market.

AMD doesn't have extra cores

I have the 3570k @4.5GHz and it's bottlnecking my 980Ti in Tomb Raider 2013

this is a bold faced lie OP even the i5 6600k struggles in games in 2019

>fake cores
>slower than a c2d

ok...

(((sound of $1000 1200wat gold rated PSU exploding after 3 months)))

>tfw 9900k was 6900k on improved 14nm process all along
NooooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOOOO this can't be true intelbros!

and it has 4mb less L3

fake news.
3570k here and the experience is pretty mediocre. Yes, games are still playable but there are constant dips and the frametimes in general are pretty bad. It's just not a smooth experience anymore.

*block your path*

Attached: path.jpg (1920x1080, 332K)

>letting videogames dictate what hardware you buy
grow up

Still got mine

>multi core is believed to be the only benefit of amd fx
>but the cores are fake
lol

hey did you know the cheapest sandy bridge i5 available (20 bucks or less) out performs the fastest amd fx available
for 1/4th the tdp too
and imagine this, you aren't spending 1k on a 1200w psu either because its not amdjeet shit

I don't even have an amd cpu, still have and am going to keep my 4th gen quad-core i5.
You played yourself, retard.

My new laptop outperforms my 2013 high end consumer desktop by nearly 100 %.

Not again... I fucking hate Rathalos.

>have i5 4460 with 8gb ram
>want to upgrade to 16
>DDR3 is so fucking expensive
>Don't see the need to upgrade CPU just yet
Why is it like this, bros? Should I bite the bullet and get a Ryzen? I only do light multitasking but it gets clunky after a little bit, but the CPU itself can handle most of my tasks as long as I don't have too much open

That's what you deserve for being a rangelet

OP is 100% right, I'm still using my sandy bridge cpu and I don't think getting an upgrade would benefit me as much as it did when I went from athlon64 to i5 2500.
What is (gonna be) the sandy bridge of tomorrow, lads?

It's already here. See OS responsiveness improves if you do upgrade.

Attached: ryzen-3600-1.jpg (1920x1080, 95K)

The amount of early adopter bullshit i've read about ryzen is a major turnoff tho

no need to do anything, maybe put an ssd into your pc if you don't already have one.
you could also possibly improve your cooling and oc it.

Current i5-3570 user. Yt and anything else is fine but gaming and YouTube? Have fun losing 20 fps minimum unless that game is low spec

DDR3 is reasonable on ebay.

>Kingston HyperX fury 1866 is 69.99 for 16GB on amazon right now
Nigga there was a time where that shit was $151, get your wallet out.
