In my computer science department, the professors bully any freshmen who doesn't use GNU/Linux. It is impossible to graduate if you don't at least dual boot, and if you don't go full GNU, you will get socially excluded from everything.

In my experience that shit is hit or miss, sites that show you "this browser is not supported" type of pages will often still do it while spoofing. It doesn't matter what your UserAgent header is if javascript and browser-specific features betray you.
