>Ballmer
Just ran into this: "When we tell the story about what's happening today with browsers ten years from now, I want the thing that replaces Windows to be Windows. I don't want to wake up in a position one day where the guys at Netscape say, 'Isn't Windows just that little thing that we use to put up menus and draw lines? Let's just write our own and suck it up into our client.'"
That was 1996. Can Ballmer see the future?

Fortunately Netscape died 5 years later

He didn't foresee Chrome, but it is turning into a situation where the OS is just a host for the browser.

Ackshually Netscape continued on until 2008

Actually Netscape evolved into Firefox. And trumped IE.

I didn't get any (you)s in the original thread about killing one of the FAANGs
is it funny or just bad

I can see two major issues:

1- Last panel is lazy-flipped
2- In most cultures, jokes are supposed to be funny

does this actually work

All the funnier since that story about the NULL vanity plate came out.
Yes, because governments/contractors produce terrible code.

Try it and find out.

I've seen this image several hundred times and just now I noticed the giant dick on the desktop. No wonder he removed the transparency of the terminal.

You know something isnt funny when you have to ask whether something is funny or not

what is it even meant to mean?

Pull the switch to destroy them?

Attached: elseif.png (1920x1080, 1.14M)

how does that tie into the literally who killing itself
i can't tell what connects to what
it's not even clear you're turning them off, since the switches aren't labelled
just pulling a lever to turn something off isn't by itself funny, at least not by itself

The compiler will optimize it, r-right?

It was probably related to a specific thread. But within context, I agree, I don't get it.

holy i18n, batman
why are these even part of the code in the first place? have fun shipping different binaries for different languages

Joke's on you. Game devs have been doing that for decades before region-free shit became normal.

hardcoding dialogue is one thing, but why put them together and number them if you aren't going to set it up for other languages? what's the point?

what the fuck

Activate Windows you poorfag

are you that dumb?

That's amazing. I mean, the guy did it in the worst and less elegant way possible and he managed to reinvent punchcards using modern technology and networking, but it is some cool engineering nonetheless.

Though he would've saved a lot of time had he bothered to learn Java or even Visual Basic and done some research. Hell, he could've asked some CS student in need of a thesis theme to do it for free.

but the giant dick is the whole joke, like, that's it, that's the entire point of the screencap

The problem isnt even the terrible nested ifs.
I have never touched Unity, but there has to be some kind of ressource management to actually store actual text in key-value pairs, because storing such stuff in the code, even with switch case statements, makes stuff like localization or any later updates a complete nightmare.

haha, wow, he built a shitty turing machine on top of word and a printer

USE AN ARRAY YOU DUMB BITCH

Attached: aa.png (1255x1403, 186K)

kek

Dilate.

It should just be the last panel

That picture predates cucks.

To be fair, that's pretty much how a lot of people do it. There's a game coming out today on steam though I can't for the life of me remember what it's called, where the dude that made it had zero experience with game design or programming. I think he was a musician or something. Anyway, the point is that he made a game that actually looks pretty incredible by coming up with the idea and then using SO and tutorials on YouTube, and each thing he needed to add to the game he would teach himself the required technology from online resources.

I just went and searched for it real quick. It's called DARQ.

You're probably too dumb to learn anyway if you don't start thinking "there must be a better way to do this" once you get to the 5th else if.

Clever

>why put the grease in a line instead of dot
>Wait he put the grease under the cpu socket
>Wait that's not grease it's mayo

I mean what would be better and still be readable in code? Switches?

oh shit never noticed it's mayo

please refrain from boomerposting

Please refrain from zoomerflossing and tripfagging

This is the most cringe trip I've ever seen.

An array if you want to keep it in code. It's checking the value of int.

Data file would be better.

put it all in a file (json for example), load it up on startup into a dictionary or some shit, make the objects fire an event on clicing and send the appropriate 'id' and pull it out of the dict
all that oop garbage exists for a reason

Exactly. So fuck everyone that says it's the “wrong way"

because sometimes it helps looking up some tutorials or code examples if your code looks like

It's not "wrong way" in the sense that it violates some arbitrary rules, like crossdressing or left-handed handshake.
It's the wrong way in the sense that you're wasting time on something error prone and hard to maintain, like wearing mittens on your feet because you don't know socks exist.

how does the command actually work?

absolutely retarded if you can't figure it out
>look up what xxd does
>read what the -r and -p flags are
>use bash for at least 2 days and know what $() does
If you can't figure it out why the HECK are you on Jow Forums?

i can't man xxd right now, tripnigger
