Good websites were designed with simple tables, text and images. This type of layout is the most clean and efficient besides pure text. 90's web design was ideal for accessing information. To me the mininalist design is the most aesthetic. Web 2.0 design is about being eye catching because normies don't care much about info. Modern web design is cancer.

The best thing about the internet in the 90s was that is was mostly white people from the first world using the internet. Same goes for online gaming.

I did use it in the 90s and actually in the very late 89 at earliest, bbs and years later irc were not that much different or better than it is now, the web was utter shit you wouldn't believe it how utterly useless piece of shit it was. Besides it was broken in to several different pieces like compuserve, and others like it, the only saving feature of it was MUDs and few BBSs.

Even then operating systems seemed faster. Windows XP was pretty snappy even with 512 megabytes of RAM.

realplayer streaming worked, somehow.. the quality was absolutely terrible (even for the time) but it did work

Also the jump from 33.6k to 512k was amazing.. even for streaming, you could get a decent looking stream on 512k with realplayer, i was amazed at the time.
