No one loves talking more about reddit than Jow Forums.

Unfortunately even if you find a smaller, decent sub it inevitably falls. Bigger subs are cesspools. Too small a sub and it's a ghost town. But thst sweet spot doesn't last long:

And what was once a comfy useful subreddit has degenerated into what the rest of the site is.
The very fact that an upboat/downboat function exists at all is a bad thing because of my first point.
I've seen all too often truth being surpressed into the depths where it will never be seen whereas the aforementioned clique of "core subscribers" can do/say no wrong and their dickriding cheers quad enables this (wtf auto hiding very down voted posts? Why the fuck do that? Are people so triggered that they need to fucking give consent to see shit now?)

Here you are forced to wade through shit. All of it. I find that preferable on the whole to curated content that's skewed towards the predilections of a few "prominent" members.

Some of the bigger subreddits like AskReddit are full of sex related questions and answers which go something like "I don't have any personal experience but I know someone's best friend's dad who had an experience like the one you asked". all the finger pointing and stupid memes don't help either

I really don't know what you can get banned for on Jow Forums other than outright posting CP or other illegal content. Considering how it's possible to get banned on Reddit for far less, it surprises me to see people who really think Reddit is any freer than Jow Forums. I'm genuinely curious how you could come to this conclusion.

You can use reddit without a points system. Just sort by new. The reason no one does that is it fucking sucks cause all the posts are shit.

For quite some time, as long as you kept using only several niche subreddits (eg. Jow Forumshalflife), it was quite usable. However, some time ago after all these youtube "le funny subreddit meme guy talking xdddd" videos its cancer rate went sky high, and even more after the Tencent incident.

This, there's some really good subreddits. Smaller ones tend to be better, just avoid popular ones/old defaults. They're almost always garbage. Though some of the bigger ones are still alright for content.

It's kinda uplifting that they stopped spewing hate and stopped lying to themselves. The bummer part would be if the family can't accept it.

I'm not referring to how "hot" posts end up on the front page; that could happen whether points are visible or not. What I mean is that by having the points public, people obsess over them. Posts are made just to get points, comments are viewed through the lens of how many points they've garnered and so on.

There's wildly different communities there, pretty much all sorts

Jow Forums deletes a lot of posts too, I never noticed how many actual replies get deleted until I started phonebrowsing. It's still less than reddit however.
