I'm not really sure. It depends on how those viruses and malware function. Could someone get into my PC without me even doing anything? Windows 10 is technically free as in free beer, in that you can download the ISO straight from Microsoft, install it, and just use it forever.
Only thing you can't do is easily customize the taskbar or the colors (can still be done, but needs to be done thru regedit) and you'll have a small watermark, but other than that that's it

There are people, companies, and members of government who still use XP. Security is, baring excessively rare moments, a matter of being intelligent. Security patches are purely to cover for ignorance or a lapse in judgement.

And the possibility of them targeting me between billions of people is how small? Why should i change my complete workflow and adapt to some alternatives of the software that I use (that are far worse) only because of a possibility of 1 in billions?
