What the fuck is with the Arch Linux install meme...

What the fuck is with the Arch Linux install meme. Every fucker on here had said it's literally just following instructions but I've tried about 5 times now and it doesn't fucking work. Am I reading some different wiki than everyone else? Is there some joke I'm missing?

In which part are you stuck?

We got another Ubuntu fag that can't handle a basic CLI installer

I think I'm too retarded for GRUB

I think its supposed to be
# grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/grub/ --bootloader-id=GRUB

I dunno I've tried a few different ways of doing it but every time I restart my computer it jist doesn't detect an OS

Make sure your motherboard boots in UEFI-only mode, not legacy boot
Make EFI partition 512MB with #cfdisk, then

○ #mkdir /mnt/boot
○ #mkdir /mnt/boot/efi
○ #mount /dev/sdX1 /mnt/boot/efi
○ #pacman -S grub efibootmgr
○ #grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --bootloader-id=GRUB --efi-directory=/boot/efi
○ #grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Thanks, I'll try this in the morning. I didn't do the whole /mnt/boot thing, I had it mounted to just /boot, maybe that fucked it up

Let me clarify.

Between the #mount and #pacman lines, there's a #arch-chroot /mnt

It doesn't matter if you mount the efi partition before you change root to the new system or after.

So you can do this after you
#arch-chroot /mnt

and then
#mount /dev/sdX# /boot/efi

That's fine.

If you were following instructions from the wiki and had a problem 90% it's probably because you're in legacy boot mode. Make sure your BIOS is set to UEFI boot only (or "legacy boot: disable")

Thanks mate. Maybe I'm only slightly retarded.

damn user is self aware

I purposefully made an inflammatory OP to disguise a tech support thread

dis nigga using bullet points

user youre dumb as hell and im glad you acknowledge that

Make sure you read the wiki, dont skim the install, read every bit of it.

There’s no real installer for arch.

Arch on the server
Fedora on the workstation/laptop

comfy

This. When I provided help for Gentoo we’d tell everyone this. Why people come to distributions like this without reading the instructions/manual is beyond me. Just take 5 minutes and read.

Arch is literal meme garbage even of you get it working you spend twice a long maintaining it than you do any other os. Your time is valuable op don't waste it on Arch.

Arch is a retarded distro that you may use for about a year before you realize how fucking dumb it was of you to install it.

Lol, an arch server. Fucking kill yourself tweenie.

>Lol, an arch server
up to date, rock solid for personal use
you'd be a fool not to use it

The hell is this?

What the literal backwards fuck are you talking about. You would be hard pressed to find any serious business running an arch server in production. That's a sure fire recipe for garaunteed downtime.

Your nginx website doesn't count as a production machine kiddo.

When you print the post out you can check them with a pen when you put them in

Bas'd

did you miss >personal use or do you just have dyslexia

>telling me where to check mark
