I want to make a partition so I can put my files and access them in any OS, what filetype should I use and why
What filetype should I use for a storage partition between OS's
ExFAT, FAT32, or NTFS (read only on macOS).
ExFAT
jaja gringo pendejo
UDF
It has Unix-style permissions and every mainstream and hipster OS can read/write to it. Also it doesn't randomly fuck your data like FAT does and force you to run a nuclear CHKDSK operation.
Callese a la verga joto, o lo siento de puro vergazo perro
How does that even happen? Did they bring an avocado to a knife fight?
Never use NTFS, it's garbage. Seriously the worst filesystem imaginable.
>(read only on macOS).
You can read and write NTFS on macOS.
it's like when piccolo killed raditz but also killed goku
Zfs.
This happened to my wife. It's when people try to take the pit out using the tip of the knife. She used to try to burrow the tip into the pit and one day it slipped and sliced her flexor tendon in the index finger. Only the top knuckle was affected so she declined to have it reattached (which involves flaying the entire finger and parts of the palm wide open, modern surgery is fucking barbaric)
people are so fucking stupid. Then again the mandoline got me so I guess I can't judge too much.
exFAT is the best choice
FAT32 has a 4GB file limit
NTFS isn't as compatible and has quite a few other downsides
ReFS doesn't work with win7 and isn't as compatible either
anything else isn't compatible with windows, so thank windows that you can filter your options down to 4 filesystems... haha
Why the fuck would anyone use Windows?
you are delusional, besides, OP wanted a filesystem between different operating systems, not only linux so I answered his question
Video processing
Windows is the only OS that doesn't support good filesystems.
No, they brought a knife to an avocado fight.
and if OP is including windows in what he wants his storage drive to be compatible with then that choice of what filesystem to use is made for him
openbsd would like a word with you
But why would he want to use that garbage? Don't presume everyone wants to use Microsoft's awful software.
OpenBSD isn't an OS, it is a distribution of Berkeley's Unix clone.
can you stop pretending windows is pure garbage? you're fucking delusional user
I support linux but pretending that windows is irredeemable and has nothing good about it is pure delusion
What do you think is good about Windows? I don't see how it is anything but unusable trash.
even if I say what is good about windows you're just going to reply with
>pffft, who even uses that?
>linux can do this too
>what are you a tech illiterate? you can't use a command line for literally everything?
I don't like microsoft at all, and I wish it wasn't proprietary so that software could advance instead of stagnating
kek
When has Microsoft ever advanced software? That is a silly thing to say.
>pretending
> Seriously the worst filesystem imaginable.
Linus Torvalds is a moron and his kernel is no good.
Yeah, good one.
>fagbook image
thanks bro
i cant believe that guy stole credit for making the linux kernel from linus tech tips
>the linux kernel
You can just say Linux. There is nothing else called Linux, so specifying that it is a kernel isn't necessary.
