Debating on using either an HDR big screen TV for my third monitor just to watch stuff, look at media/porn or a 49" x1440 monitor to do so on, nothing work relation or cretive major

What would the pros and cons of each be really?

Explain yourself!

Super-ultrawide is the way to go famalam

>What would the pros and cons of each be really?
Does this not look downright retarded to you?

No one is forcing you to be a dumb nigger. Just use standard screen split software and it's literally two standard 1440p 16:9 displays side by side without bezel.

Gorgeous

Whatever, I'm not retarded enough to buy this curved garbage ever.
Yeah, and here's what also happens with ultrawide anything:
Just what you want when watching movies, right? Abysmal black spaces on top of curvature?

>Watching movies on your PC
>neglecting you're getting crops/black bars regardless since content is produced in cinemascope/flat/imax differing aspect ratios
>talking shit about curvature when it's been established in cinema for decades

>talking shit about curvature when it's been established in cinema for decades
Where?

Curved screens are a compromise to improve performance on projectors. Camera lenses approximate rectilinear projection and CGI matches it perfectly. A flat display produces the least spatial distortion.

I ran a theater for half a decade. With systems ranging from the 90s to 2010s, 5 of which were optimized for cinemascope (wider) format at curved.
See Cinerama for implementation in the 50s and Paul Allen (Microsoft founder) personally owns a working exhibit of this early Carson.

Distortion is negligible at those curvatures, and has the upside of better peripheral viewing.

So why the fuck wouldn't i just buy two monitors? It would be cheaper and easier to drive holy shit how could you say something so stupid in defense of this bullshit

Stop watching porn

Just because you CAN at absolute minimum use it as 2 monitors side by side but with no intermediate bezel
Simultaneously you can use some other odd partitioning which would actually be awkward on 2 physical displays like 3 or 5 way equal splits
If you play games there's a lot of titles which support ultrawide ARs and if they don't chances are WSGF community has a patch. That is superior to multimotor as well

>Cinerama
That's an interesting concept, but it's really not ubiquitous. I don't know which director meant his movies to be seen on a curved panel instead for some proof of concept films.

>If you play games there's a lot of titles which support ultrawide

And this is where you have failed, not even dumb ass ebt nigger would use a monitor like this to game on there is literally NO reason to do so and you would be willfully wasting money in that case

Fuck you are stupid

>Easier to drive 2 1440p monitors than a single ultrawide monitor with the collective resolution of those monitors.
Poorfag cope is the most disgusting thing.

u obviously don't know how the software that handles the hardware even works in this case lol

Instead of*

Does running a game at 16:9 on a 32:9 monitor look fine?
Might get one of these but only have a 1070 at present so might not be able to drive them at full 32:9.

I am strongly considering getting a Samsung TV which has 1440p 120hz and freesync over a monitor, especially now that the new AMD gpus are out. So I tried to look for some tests of 1440p freesync gaming on the 5700 xt with a Samsung TV and I couldn't find a single one which makes me really angry in this era where everything gets reviewed constantly.

Ultra wide monitors are gay and lame unless you really want to play a lot of mechwarrior or something.
UI elements, in games and apps, are designed with the edge of the screen in mind, keeping the elements in the periphery of your vision.
Getting a mouse trapped up at the edge of the screen is actually useful.
Having a hierarchy of screen real estate is also really nice for multitasking.
Real G's use one vertically oriented screen for document reading, spreadsheet handling, or any other text based operations.
A symmetrically placed large screen is totally illogical when you look at the way we actually use monitors and screen real estate.
Let alone you can find many good wallpapers.

can not find*

I got myself this samsung monitor, it's really nice as a monitor! but if you want something to consume videos on, then go for a TV, there aren't much ultra-widescreen content, so you'll be watching something with black bars on the sides.

yeah but they look great and are better than a multimonitor setup if you were to compare two monitors that equal that one monitors size

LMAO saying this on Jow Forums of all places where tiling your windows is as essential as showing how much you fit in for that amd cpu

Super ultrawides are amazing I wish I made the upgrade to mine years ago but they only just dropped to 250usd where I am a fucking steal for 100hz 34" 3k

Ultra wide are for gaymer faggots who have no idea that fov adjustment exist or either a retard who doesn't know how to properly arrange use multiple monitors.

The fuck are you even talking about?

I really want a widescreen monitor, but want it to be futureproof as well. So are there any good >60hz 2160p widescreen monitors? Or are there any new ones coming this year?

Why

Fucking based. I have one landscape16:9 for standard media stuff and one 4:3 portrait for docs and text reading. It's the best of both worlds. I just wish that there was a cheaper modern 4:3 screen. The last good one was from 2007.

Cope

this is how you operate excel

Just get a big ass 16:9 monitor so 99% of media is displayed full screen without bars

A 4K TV is basically a double stacked ultrawide without the useless curve. just think about that friend

Yeah, thanks for the "explanation"...
