oh god it's that time of the day again

The time your mum satisfies her black bull and you get to listen?

>Are you using an iPad as your main machine yet?
I'm planning to. Bet I could even deal with current iOS 12 limitations but the current keyboard covers are stopping me from buying one right now. Just how hard can it be to create a light one that connects the same as the Smart Folio and has fucking function keys?

Why is the response time on these things so unbearably bad. You LITERALLY get screen ghosting on them even when watching a fucking 24fps movie.

What does the """"""""""pro"""""""""" part of these iPads even mean?

Damn, the Samsung tablet user is still going strong.

It's weird given how the thing is 120hz, but that might be the key, since it's one of the few small 120hz LCD screens. Practically it's only a bit worse than the average either way.

120hz with response time of of 23.2ms AT BEST = can only.truly display 40 frames per second. All the other frames are dropped harder than hiroshima and nagasaki combined.

The 23ms is fine, most screens are way slower. The grey to grey stat is freaky but then again, everyone is creaming about how great it is in real use.
The keyboard cases tho. I just don't get how even third parties can't make anything decent after a good year has passed. Or why Apple thought it's okay to release a keyboard for 200 bucks without function keys.

I really like mine but I still want a laptop.

I hate that I need the sleeve in order to keep it standing up. I hate that I have no real mouse option and that everything is so phone like.

Thinking of buying a Pixelbook now

>Damn, the Samsung tablet user is still going strong.
holy fuck, he's posting that image in literally every thread I've opened so far

Yeah I have an Air 2. Still receiving updates and going strong. I’m in the market for a bluetooth mouse now that Apple will support them on iPadOS. Do any of you on iPadOS unstable channel recommend a specific mouse?

I'm betting the demand for ipad pros is super low, even compared to the original model. The thing has an extremely niche application and the only drawing app worth mentioning right now doesn't need keyboard input. Throw photoshop in the mix and it might go somewhere.

I find touchscreens annoying. They get dirty, your finger isn't as precise as a trackpad, applications have gigantic touch optimized controls that take away screen space, etc. I've had both iPad and Surfaces and I can't stand them. So for me, I'll keep using my trusty MacBooks forever.

mouse support is just an accessibility feature at the moment. i dont think its fully fledged out and not every scroll wheel works. also the pointer is just a big circle

considering buying my sister the ~$270 ipad. is it worth it or is there something better? she mainly uses Apple products because she is a woman.

New air is the best deal right now performance wise. There's probably going to be an ipad refresh next month.

Based.
I either use my phone (6" screen is plenty) or if I need to get actual things done, my laptop.

I bought my mom an iPad for her birthday because she's older and can see it way better than a phone screen.

Easy to wipe clean, *my* fingers are pretty fucking precise, apps actually have small, reasonable sized control targets. And with the pencil it's a fucking godsend for design and art. I've Wacoms + macs and PCs since '94, this is a better way.

Shitpost, email, books, netflix, etc.

iPad 2017 model owner here. I've been using it as my primary jack off device for 2 years now and i love it. Can't wait to install iPadOS so i can finally transfer porn to the device itself and not have to stream it all the time.

I remember back when these first came out this one kid at my college had one and people made fun of him behind his back for pecking and swiping at the screen. Now everybody does this, constantly.

You can transfer video files to vlc either through itunes or right from your desktop browser if you toggle the wifi sharing switch on and type in the ip address on desktop.

I'm in for a new ipad but the build quality of the 2018 pro model isn't so good. Hopefully Apple announces a new one this year.

yea i've seen that but didn't want to turn it on because i sometimes have family on my network and i don't want my porn SMB share showing up in their devices.

You can toggle that off when you are done.

it would be my luck the moment i turn it on they open their file manager and see the share and click on it. Also there are various other media streaming boxes on my lan that automatically detect and display SMB shares as well. Gotta love avahi lol.

note taking with the apple pencil is pretty comfy

I'm an optician and my company makes us use ipads for everthing relating to selling/making glasses, it's kind of weird. Not sure what model though.

Shame there's no way of running emacs (ssh into another machine does not count) and neither remapping caps lock to Ctrl globally.
So I'm using my iPad "pro" 11 as a PDF annotating machine and to keep a digital trace of handwritten notes since I can't draw to save my life.

Anyone tried putting another OS on an old iPad2?

Do you use the default notes app?
I don't like how taking notes on split screen mode makes everything huge when displayed full screen
Do you use it for school? Any way to display presentations apart from keynote? I'm making my slides in latex but PDF readers make me scroll through my slides which makes me look like a boomer

I'm not installing ipadOS on my machine.
I'm waiting for the official upgrade instead of being a beta tester for free.
The device is expensive enough, most of the apps are either paid or adds ridden. No way I'm being a beta tester for free on top of that

What's even a calculator app for free without adds? No such thing comes preinstalled wtf

It's ok. Reading and notes are nice. I bought it to see if I could eliminate the need for a backpack... Meh, this is possible for some classes. Maybe if I bought a keyboard it could. Shame the keyboards suck.

Attached: comfy.jpg (1122x2208, 308K)

Yeah, ad supported apps suck (same as android). Sometimes you have to hunt around for something acceptable, or even pay a buck or two.

As for the calc, there are many crappy calc apps with ads since iPads have never had a default one (I don't remember if that's changing in 13 or not). I'd recommend pCalc Lite though -- free, no ads, great.

Probably saves them millions a year in spite of the asspain when it doesn't work. I know the apps on the ipods target used were hot buggy dogshit but it had to cut costs somewhere.

>have an ipad 2 because someone didnt want it because its too slow
>update
>cant update it all the way
>doesnt have the update that slows it down for retards
>80% of the apps in the app store flat out dont work
>took me a week just to find a decent browser
>load times for page rendering is terrible
>use it as a comic and manga device
>shit keeps a charge for a solid month

that's an 9 year old device for you. surprisingly if all you use it for is reading manga then it's still usable. just use iComic and FTP your shit directly to it.

How much does the youtube app cost?

I’m just using the website, no app

I have a samsung ipad.

Yikes

iPad 1 sitting on thw desk collecting dust.
Can't do anything with it, too slow.

I just bought iPad mini
not bad

No shit

>iPad Pro 12.9" (2018)
>main machine: no, but I use it for work
It has eliminated basically all my paperwork

Different user here, but I use GoodNotes5 - it has eliminated almost all my paperwork

Bought an iPad last year and installed iOS12 and now every app TAKES A FULL MINUTE TO START UP. I can't even do a clean install on this locked down piece of shit.

FUCK APPLE. FUCK YOU iSHILLS. KILL YOURSELVES. I CANT EVEN RETURN THIS PIECE OF SHIT ANYMORE.

Why can’t you do a clean instal?

A shame I have to re-sign Cercube every 7 days. Watching YouTube on it is pretty much all I use it for.

I know that the 12.4 jailbreak has just come out and I've tried both Chimera and Unc0ver, but the iOS Jailbreak community is much more unprofessional than I thought. Cydia looks worse than 2007 software and the list UI elements are so bugged, that they don't even work, unless you drag right to left on them at a very specific speed after a very specific delay.
And that's the poster software.
Also, it looks like even when Jailbroken, you STILL can't run non-signed applications, so you SITLL need to re-sign every 7 days and can only install 3 applications.

iPad OS is such an essential upgrade anyway that Jailbreaking 12.4 doesn't seem worth it at all.

support.apple.com/en-sg/HT201252

ive just sold my 32gb ipad mini 2, iphone 5s, less than £100 for the both because of apple's stupid degrading devices scam, my ipad terribly slow since IOS 11's update. if i knew where to file a lawsuit against you i will do it,

Your ipad is trash

iPad Air 2. Also an iPad 4 that I have some games installed on. Gets most of my non-work computing time. Extremely convenient. Instant on. Can use it just about anywhere and don’t have the awkward balancing act that I’d have with using a notebook not at a desktop.

Two things that I “can’t” do with it are edit video, though I only use whatever’s available for free, maybe there’s a paid app that’ll manage some of the finer edits I’d like to do. And work with spreadsheets. Those call for a keyboard and mouse. Plus Google Sheets’ app is really erratic if trying to use with a keyboard.

Recently mu lagging problem has increased on my iPad Pro 2017 (2nd Generation). When I do multasking it’s does not respond to my touch but whenever I use Apple Pencil it responds to it why?
Even right now writing this issue it has lagged so much that I m frustrated. If doesnot respond to my finger gestures most of the time. Even typing on its touchscreen it lags and does not respond to my commmands. Plz fix this software issue. Multitasking now has become unrespensive. It only responds flawlessly with Apple Pencil. While game or watching videos its screen freezes and dosent obey my any command until i press the home button. Initiallay it was working very nicely but I dont know how It has become so much unresponsive. FUCK apple.

Are these 8 years old iPad too slow even as a PDF machine?

Try reinstall the OS

Yet you can't refute a single thing look who's on damage control

Pixelbook is better than any iPad aside from the screen (iPad is brighter and 120hz)

never trust a Samsung screen on "review" models
motherfucking frauds used to swindle TV's all the time by frontloading all the good stuff on review models and initial production run only to swap them out for cheaper or refurbed panels

No.

It's better but far from ideal.

iPad Pro 12.9 2018

Might explain why they updated is relatively often too, though from the younger people I know, tons of students want it as their next "laptop" for college, so wonder if it's THAT low.

Can't one just use iTunes Library and a password?

I think the problem is that it comes in 2 sizes and is competing with the old model and the Air. I don't know why I think sales are low other than that it's a terrible value proposition compared to a macbook or other laptop as well as last year's model, and is a useless piece of shit unless all you do is draw porn and watch youtube.

Lately, my iPad is very slow to respond and freezes up on a regular basis. It's a last year model, bought in 2017. I can no longer update the iOS after 12 came out. And I hate to sound conspiratorial, but the problems began once iOS 12 came out.

I've tried the hard reset (holding lock button and home button down at the same time). That helps for a brief time, but then the problems begin again.

Please don't just tell me it's time to get a new one. I've seen that reply to other similar questions and it's not helpful. I just bought a new iPhone last year, and most of us don't have unlimited funds to constantly buy new devices.

This thread really triggered some loser

>it's a terrible value proposition compared to a macbook or other laptop
It's very different. The things you can do with iOS that don't require a keyboard (basically any media work), it does better and faster; while being way more portable. When your work is keyboard dependent, a laptop is obviously superior but a lot of it comes from the suboptimal keyboards available. MS did it way better with Surface or Surfacebook; and technically nothing stops Apple or at least third parties from offering similar stuff, which would only leave OS limitation, that aren't a big deal with most potential buyers since programmers are a minority.

For all their talk about a new way of computing, they only make baby steps. Possibly to protect their own Macbook sales.

Its the satania poster, or the ipajeet spammer.
They may honestly be the same person, this kind of thread-duplicating false flagging used to happen continuously.

Attached: apple-logo-history.jpg (1000x250, 45K)

I just got a free iCloud locked iPad 2 from work. I remembered that they use eDP instead of LVDS so now I've got an eDP to DP and HDMI adapter in the mail. Soon It'll be a 10" 2048x1536 touchscreen (I think, I can't remember if I went for that option) monitor.

I really like the first apple logo, a bit too over design? Maybe? But I dig it

Why does he do that? What's his motive?

You will not be paid for this one, and a strike has been added to your account. You're on thin ice, buddy.

Jeez, not even giving the poor sod a >you.

Why do we still not have a linux fork designed for touch screens?

How hard would it be to connect PS3 controller and use some emulator to play psp/ps1 games on it? Is jailbreak necessary?

plasma-mobile.org/
there was an effort once

i believe so, there's a jb app for that already

GNOME?

Actually, a good thread. I'm looking for an Air 3. Is it worth it on 2019? Or we're going to see new Air this year and it's worth to wait a little?

Get one and find out. iPad 2 can be had for cheap now. Though you might consider the iPad 3 instead since that was the first Retina Display model.

Attached: cozy doge.jpg (1024x786, 300K)

I use it as a porn and Netflix machine. That's what it's good for.

iPad is trash

Kalkyl is on iPhone and is compatible with iPads. I've replaced using the stock calculator with it since it easily does scientific functions.

I want an iPad mini as a reading device (PDFs, PowerPoints, Word docs, manga and ebooks). I've considered my options and I'm just waiting for a price drop of the new mini at this point.

I have a several years old iPad mini 2, I think the first model with retina display in that form factor.

Still going strong as a reader, but if I try to surf the battery will die in like a hour.

I'm waiting for the next month announcement to make my decision between getting another mini or a pro.

The mini can fit in my pocket and replace my phone for media consumption and shitposting but surely I would enjoy the porn more on a big ass screen.

All in all after these years that iPad mini was probably the best piece of technology I have ever had.

>The mini can fit in my pocket
Woah. That's some big pocket energy.

What do you use? if you use a tablet that is.

My ipad air 2 doesn't turn on anymore, I haven't charged it since I got the Air 3, but now I wanted to gift it. What do?

Install Gentoo

2017 ipad pro user

Ipad os is a cery big upgrade. Lots of small changes and some big changes. Full desktop browser with ability to download shit is huge.

Apple pencil is awesome for drawing and using affinity to edit photos. I use ipad for editing all my product photos.

Ipad is anazing for doing any type of research. Dream reader is pretty awesome

>Are you using an iPad as your main machine yet?
Absolutely not, iOS is terrible and restrictive and even when just working with PDFs and shit I encounter bugs that require a restart due to icloud fuckups regularly.
>How are you linking iPad OS?
It's not officially out so I'm not installing it on a work device
>What iPad do you own?
The latest version of the 13" iPad Pro, hardware feels good but the software is garbage. It's also big and heavy and I feel like I might as well carry a laptop.
