It would mean they've moved away from the awful, slow, incompatible, disadvantaging non-chrom* browsers WebComponents V0 Polymer UI they are currently using.
They've even delayed removing WebComponents V0 from Chrome in V63, as they originally promised, to keep this unfair advantage a while longer.
