with schizo there is no one treatment, you need an ongoing long term treatment plan. aka therapy and medication.
i think if his family was more tolerant of him and he actually did see doctors more often earlier in his life things wouldnt have gone the way they did.

he really just needed to have good real friends. It's hard to be a friend to someone like that though. I'm friends with a schizophrenic. He's normal most the time around me, with or without meds, but then like 1-10% of the time he doesn't make any damn sense and gets frustrating, and also he's really flakey, once he's there he's usually good.
