dude just learn to code lmao

just go to a well-known university that companies hire from in droves

>dude just do the exact same thing as every indistinguishable clueless wannabe

I CAN'T I DROPPED OUT OF A GOOD UNI 3 YEARS AGO AND NOW MY ONLY OPTIONS ARE SHIT TIER ONES

Attached: download.jpg (213x237, 4K)

Just learn to code lmao

>$40/hr 40/week remote web dev job
>sometimes sleep on the job without recompense
>got it through nepotism and only nepotism
Sometimes you just take what you're given.

Attached: smugfarve.jpg (300x425, 28K)

why would you do that?

I was a fucking retard that coasted through high school that was allergic to actual hard work so I flunked out first year at an unironically great university (eurofag uni, ranked in the top 20 in the world).
I spent the next few years working shitty minimum wage jobs, now I've saved up enough money to go back and not need to worry about debt and shit.
But now I'm 3 years removed from my great high school results so no one rightly gives a shit how """"gifted"""" I used to be so I'm only realistically going to go to a shit uni.

Right now I am having a lot of regret at being such a knuckle dragging retard and not realising the amazing opportunity I had. I know 22 is still young but I wish I was more emotionally mature at 18.

FUCK

I'm 31 and a bigger fuck up than you, you'll be fine

>dude just get into debt you'll never be able to pay off

pretty much this.
If you're trying to go into coding or using coding to do your job, realizing that you won't be reinventing the wheel every time you fire up a computer is smart.
Knowing how to make things though in case you need to is also smart, you can easily learn this on the internet with self study, youtube and piracy.

DUDE just be a stupid NIGGER POOPOO PEEE

Attached: 1556794373385.png (640x480, 460K)

Almost 30 and also a bigger fuck up, just get back to it you're fine. Don't make the same mistakes again, now you know.

I swear people come to this site only to complain about their shit life.

Is there a version of Github that doesn't involve releasing your source code? I'd like to build up a portfolio without having some sweaty fat neckbeard constantly posting comments about my code.

>22
>young
You best start believing in age discrimination, friend.

Not him but I'm in a similar situation. Ran out of money, people were treating me like shit, teachers started having everyone work in groups which fucked me over hard.
I wish I was a normalfag for one day, and not have to put up with all this bullshit from people because I'm too socially awkward and fugly looking.

I lost my scholarship from group work because I had to write all the code myself and the TA flunked me for not being a team player while my lab partner literally turned in MY code and she gave him an A. I’m 23 now and figured I’ll get me degree to say I didn’t quit and then kill myself because I’m too old to even have a tech career anymore

something like private repo then manually add permissions to your account for specific users

what's wrong with comments? or are you discriminating against fat neckbeards? either way, no one comments in your own small projects

Birds of a feather flock together. Losers tend to complain. When you get to post anonymously, it makes it easier to do it.

>thinking good university is inextricably linked with debt
you guys got duped by the student loan marketing, the whole "a decent education costs 7 figures, now pay me interest goy" bait and switch.

t. pajeet who went to a top 10 CS university and graduated with 0 debt even against all affirmative action odds

No, Kumar, indian universities are nowhere near top 10.

Don't know how you coders deal with life.

Im a mechanical engineer and typically life is piss easy, I can't remember the last time I even used math at work.

Attached: 1565296071044.jpg (847x1024, 86K)

If you have never coded something before and you think you can perform in the real-world then you're retarded lol

What do you do?

Jus do it you lazy negro

PUBLIC IVY FTW

that's when you just don't tell them your age or lie

>Euro uni
>Top 20 in the world

So you went to oxbridge? All other non murican unis are irrelevant

interview is when the old guys get weeded out, regardless of skillset

Also wtf you're 22? You got so much fucking time. I'm 25 and snorted sleeping pills through college. Guess I got a degree but my druggie ass friends turned their shit around at like 30 now they're bezos and musk cock sluts

i was talking rather specifically about the 22 year old guy, obviously if you have a big gray beard and wrinkles this isn't going to work

I'm thinking of becoming an electrician for this reason. I don't want to deal with months of no-job / job hunting for something where the work is genuinely shit and you have to deal with dumb managers and nu-males.
Or child care.
Or IT work, but every day programming for a career seems less and less appealing.

I design production fixtures in solidworks. We sometimes send some stuff to get made but we have a mini machine shop and a full production staff that puts everything together. Feels pretty fun seeing prototypes being built in real life all by your co-workers.

You're being retarded. Started studying at 28 , got job at 31. After 2 jobs i'm on a comfy remote job as my third , im 32. There's fucking 27% unemployment rate in the shithole i live , i was unemployed for all my life.
Stop listening to underage larpers here unironically , you're young as shit anyway.

> I can't remember the last time I even used math at work.
You don't use mechanics/strengths of materials or statics on your fixtures?

Maybe just FEA via solidworks? Sounds like glorified drafting, but what do I know.

When did you feel prepared to interview for your first tech job and why?

You can mostly guestimate that kinda shit when you get a feel for it. Pretty much the golden rule is to use aluminum for everything (easier to machine, less production time), stainless steel for corrosion and cycle life, and 3d printing for hard geometry parts.

Even then soildworks have fea analysis which will show u how much things deflect under force.

At the end of the day it isn't about min-maxing about using the cheapest material you can use; its about getting shit out the door to be used in real life.

Engineers design the stuff, drafters make drawings of them. In bigger companies unions have kept drafters in a special role, typically forbidding engineers from making drawings. My company is small and having drafters make drawings of parts for 5 minutes doesn't make sense.

Makes sense. What material do you use for 3D printing? Everything I've seen 3D printed didn't look like it would hold up to the level of being a fixture.

Everything we use has to be esd. PETG is pretty durable. We have had shit broken in the past and had fasteners rip out of plastic. Just a learning curve and how much infil you want to use. You wouldn't use it for anything under stress. Just circuit board holders and connector shells and stuff like that.

>dude just get a portofolio on github
This is not a meme. I looked for junior dev jobs for well over a year, applied to 200+ positions, got one interview and zero job offers. Then I spent two months (around 300 hours) writing a web service with a proper frontend and backend, complete with login features and async requests. Here's the important part: I DEPLOYED THE CODE TO A VPS with a domain name.

I added a link to that site in my resume, sent it to 6 employers, and got 3 phone calls: 2 interviews and one straight up job offer. I went to the interviews and got a permanent jr dev position at measly $15/hr. Two years later I was making $21/hr, and a year after that, $27/hr. Now I make like $60/hr.

If you're not hearing me, then fuck you, stay NEET and die a poor sack of shit, I've said my piece.

>i want a well-paying comfy job and I don't want to work for it
well, welcome to the real life I guess

The website you're talking about, was it a personal project or something you were hired to do?

>brown foreign national
>thinks admissions are geared against him

No firm will hire someone old. I'm not even talking near retirement age. If you're even in your mid 20's and dont either
A. Have a very impressive resume and portfolio
Or
B. Check enough diversity boxes for the company
HR wont even touch you. Theres always someone younger and browner for your boss to make a buck off of.

A personal project written for the exact purpose of showcasing my abilities to potential employers.

It doesn't need to be groundbreaking, just write CRUD capabilities on the data, visualize it, have login/registration/forgot pw functionality, and of course, manipulate the DOM with async calls.

>If you're even in your mid 20's
t. sour grapes NEET

Nope, got my first dev job at 25 with no degree or work history.

Honestly i didn't have to. I got asked to stay in the business i did my internship in. Then a client i worked with in that job offered to hire me after first one went south (was a really small startup).
About being ready. Cant help you much with interviews but as for the real job as long as you've solved common problems in any language (database crud , rest api calls , simple web DOM usage and design) you're ready to be a junior dev , and being a junior dev is learning whatever you need to learn fast and help however you can.
I did from vb6 , to ibm stuff to firebase , java. Currently i'm working with js , react , redux and i'm lucky enough i can do frontend only , but you need to be flexible and able to learn.
I only learned basic old js , css , java , php , sql in my associate degree , no frameworks , so everything else i learned on the fly.

It's pretty fucked. My coworker is pajeet and 22. Dude literally is working himself to death. We were buddies as student employees at our college (dude was like 16 year old from India) and now that's he's full time, his optimism and love of life, gone. Very sure he's gonna hang himself at the office soon. Our big boss man keeps dodging when I tell him we need another tech. Dudes old ibm dude that barely can work skype but makes bank from pajeets tears. Wasnt until I threatened to quit that the pig agreed. Might've saved pajeet's life

good on you mate but the pajeet needs a good sit down

Problem is pajeet won't open up to me. Talk to him everyday but dude hides it. It's like a moral sin for him to tell me hes having a bad day. But I came back to the office at like 10pm after a late dinner with friends, pajeet was still there. working. Offered him a ride home but he wanted to finish up what he was doing. How tf am I making more than this fucker?

Fuck that street shitter. He's legitimately taking a job from a local IT bro.

does he drink?

You need to demoralize him, tell him you're making more than him and working less.

>dude just send 300 applications haha bound to get one bro

Attached: e3rk9ru4lwe31.png (394x360, 144K)

True that. But he was my bud. Not anymore. He wanted to integrate so bad. Thought he was a murican pajeet for awhile since his English was so good. He tried to rap to Kanye one time. But yeah don't worry. Hes gonna hang himself and I'm kinda excite bc I love work drama

Who gives a fuck. If you actually work hard you can accomplish a lot from a mid tier university. Stop blaming your previous lack of hard work for not doing any hard work now.

Used to. He even smoked weed with me once. But dude says he's clean and never takes part in coworker outings like most pajeets

That's just mean lol. He aren't buddies anymore (dudes changed man...) so idk if I'm obligated to do any more for hin

>Is there a version of Github that doesn't involve releasing your source code?
Yes, it's called GitHub.

nigger.

I live in Colorado. Literally every local here is a drugged out white degenerate

>UST GET 10 CERTIFICATES AND VOLUNTEER AT 6 DIFFERENT ORGS BRO

Attached: 1498865753695.png (808x805, 817K)

dude just don't have panic attacks that leave you unable to think whenever you try to concentrate on your future

Shit's all fucked up anyway, the only to be guaranteed a good job nowadays is if you have connections and lots of money, in which case you might as well make your own business instead. It's funny how feudal society is becoming.

God is it really that bad in tech? I'm glad I went into medicine where knowledge and experience is more valued than being 12.

Imperial College

I did exactly that. Got recruited by a group of engineers to work on their expanding side project. Funny thing is grinding leetcode was useless, they asked me some basic CS knowledge and talked about my hobby projects. Got the job on the spot, no HR "We'll get back to you in 2 weeks" bullshit.

If you can't make flappy bird on python you're not going to make it.

>Thinking you get a degree to learn how to program

There's GitLab and Bitbucket that I know of that let you make private repos for free though I'd say just use GitHub, it's unlikely that anyone will randomly stumble upon your code and comment on it.

>his parents didn't pay for college

they're complaining about the state of industry which is better than complaining about their shit consumer devices

>that one dumb hr call after hundreds of applications
>"have you api integration on nodejs something gay shit"
>"uhh no"
>"okay i'll let you know"

got a low 6 fig job because a friend put in a good word for me.

I only know a little bit of R btw lol

This is how these kinds of situations come to be OP.
"Good Words."
Keep friends. Don't cut them off for anything ever. If you just grow apart that's fine, but i've seen to many people go "Shit now i'll get my own damn money i don't need none of you anymore" and come crawling back for help from "My good old friend, Mr. Strangerbynow".

for what purpose? to version control your projects or advertise your portfolio? you can make private repos at gitlab and others, for the latter you quite miss the point, no ones interesting in your projects if they cant access them
