TL;DR: microsoft never really “got it” and chrome os will kill windows

>fail at search-engining
>fail at mobile
>fail at becoming essentially google and microsoft together in just one company
>fail at creating a fucking good browser in 20 years just to finally give up and use other people's engine
>fail at all those things even though you had all the chances in your favor to success

Is there any company the wasted more golden opportunities than Microsoft?

Not that they are bankrupt nowadays or anything like that, on the contrary, even though they fucked up big time countless times, they are still like one of the most profitable companies in the world. But why did they fuck up so much?

In my opinion, probably a deeply rooted "my way, or the highway" culture in the company's board. I refuse to believe that there weren't any innovator working there.

And Bill Gates wasn't one of them. Like, Gates writes that famous letter talking about how the internet will be important, but he only focus on the fucking browser and only the browser for windows (even today, there is still no microsoft browser to all platforms, I mean, for god's sake how hard is to release your chromium-based browser to linux?)...

Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh, the browser... instead of creating good web services that people wanted to use and tying up that services to the browser (which is essentially what google does with chrome and why people use chrome), they just said: "let's only make the browser and make the browser only to our own OS"...

microsoft could unseat google extremely easily if they were more aggressive. they're scared of antitrust

Edge/IE do wonderfully because of enterprise, enterprise uses it because they don't need to install and maintain a third party browser. Nobody cares about your grandma preferring chrome. Chrome OS is a joke.

>Bill gates is among the richest people in the world
>a thinkpad running windows 10 can do all manner of work and play
>If you had bought an x230 in 2012 with windows 7 you would still be running windows 10 today and could upgrade it to 16 gb of ram. It plays minecraft and oblivion smooth while running obs and can dual monitor with your cable.
>If you know c# you can certainly get a job coding
>If you had bought microsoft in the year 2000 and traded it it would be worth alot more money now

Sounds pretty successful to me, user.

the consumer market is a joke and irrelevant

Chrome OS os fucking garbage and not compatible with 9/10 programs windows users are familiar with, meaning chrome OS will forever be one of those things you use out of necessity (because that chromebook was cheap and mobile) and not out of preference. Desktops will stay Windows

If Windows ever gets beat by BotnetOS I'll take the biggest Linux pill imaginable and never look back

>microsoft
they aren't making anything you've listed
they LOCKING users in their products, like apple do

thanks for this excellent image

>instead of creating good web services that people wanted to use and tying up that services to the browser (which is essentially what google does with chrome and why people use chrome)
yeah it's so easy to do this just like google+

intel, commodore, cyrix, 3dfx

Honestly, the one thing I think Microsoft got right was Bing. I like how it doesn't try to be anything other than a search engine. If I look up porn, I get porn. If I look for how to kill myself, it'll tell me how. It's not trying to be an "AI" with some gay ass prediction on what I want. I tell it what I want.

Pocket change for Microsoft, he could've gotten double

Bing and Edge are good your argument is invalid.

I actually really like Bing, overall.

>how hard is to release your chromium-based browser to linux?
For the 20 people who are going to use it? Loonix users tend to dislike MS.

>instead of creating good web services that people wanted to use
That's clearly harder said than done.

>Bing finding anything
Not my experience with it. Even had to stop using ecosia (who just use Bing but put the profits into something decent) and it was just too painful.

Microsoft is currently the only American company valued at over $1 trillion (apple has dropped below in the past few months). I fail to understand how you can think they never "got it" even though they have the largest market cap in the world right now.
Sure they may have mucked up and missed out on some opportunities, but they did more right than wrong and that's why they're still so successful to this day.

in current year bing > google

OP just has a hate boner for MS
MS failing at something just means they made the effort to try something and OPs too retarded to understand the whole “you miss every shot you don’t take” and thinks you are just a bad company if you fail at anything even if still very successful in general

But Microsoft fails at every single thing they do. Every single time they try something new they fail. A one trick pony. A very profitable one trick pony.

I used to think this but Google keep fucking up too. It's almost as if it's impossible to run a massive global corporation and have it be perfectly efficient in every arena it operates.

Eventually the paradigm will shift, but for now, the big 5 of Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon are going to stay roughly where they are.

Dunno my dude Azure is getting pretty big

I have never ever seen someone running ultimate botnet like chrome os

>Revenue spread almost evenly among 3 divisions that do completely different things
>One trick pony

Are you even paying attention?

>expecting some brainlet on Jow Forums to know that MS got more than Windows and maybe Office if it's an advanced brainlet

Have you looked at their revenue distribution? Microsoft is pretty well diversified compared to ten years ago.

Can you practice your English somewhere else miguel?
