I lived in coastal North Carolina for a decade and my mother-in-law is finally moving away from it to the hills. Locals board windows, accept the reality of roof damage and calling your insurance agent, and if they aren't idiots get flood insurance because that isn't covered under homeowner's. Unsurprisingly I live 7000 ft above sea level now.
