The 4790k is the new 2500k

$150 processors are better than the 4790K is.

yes but the 4790k is still going strong and is a 5 year old processor

pretty based tbqh

Its age is showing in my case. I'm going to upgrade my main machine to a 3900X and hopefully keep that for a while. My 4790K won't get to rest just yet though, because I'm going to use it to upgrade my home server.

i still have a 2600k
it does everything i want to do

b&r

I have a 2500k in my home server

I have a 4570S, but the 4790K is obviously better and so is the mobo in my desktop compared to what my server is using.

4790k
980Ti
Master race

Mine is still going strong. Its been slightly undervolted for a few years cos my case can't fit more than the smallest noctua heatsink. Even still that bitch geta put to work and i love her so

>install RX 5700 XT alongside 4790k two days ago
>performs just fine close enough to or equal performance of benchmarks floating around using 9400F / 9900k
Why the fuck are people so paranoid about "bottlenecking"?
At most I'd probably lose 10fps in very specific games but the stuff I play, it's barely something I should give a shit about

Depends on the games you play and on the FPS you actually want to get. There are games where a 4790K won't even get a constant 60+.

>mfw still have a spare i7 920 still running

In your dreams, you delusional faggot. It's barely faster than a 2600K. In fact, slower if you actually take the 2600K to its potential of 5GHz+ on air, since Haswell gets nowhere near that.

>tfw "stuck" with 4790k because you don't want to commit to upgrading the CPU, Motherboard, AND RAM because of DDR4
>things still work anyways so it's not worth the money/effort
anyone else?

no, I upgraded to DDR4 platform and its 10/10

>The 4790k is the new 2500k
Don't think so. Yeah, it's better than 2600k, but the difference was not as big as the one between 1st and 2nd gen. It wasn't actually that well received on launch. 10% performance gains were pretty unimpressive and it wasn't soldered like many hoped it will be.
>There are games where a 4790K won't even get a constant 60+
Huh? Which ones? Even shitshow like AC:O should have constant 60+ fps with 4790k. I think that 60 fps target with reasonable OC and 2133 or 2400 RAM shouldn't be a problem for a few more years with 4790k.
>things still work anyways so it's not worth the money/effort
Got Zen+ build last year. Will probably turn it into my main at some point by stitching to R7 Zen2 or Zen3 (whichever will be the last for AM4), but right now I just gave it to my wife, since my old i7 is more than enough for me (60hz monitor. higher fps is just useless)

"No."

Mine's still running fine, the only reason to upgrade is for multicore performance which I don't really use except to extract fitgirl repacks

ITT: poorfag intelnigger cope

The still running a 3770k

>Huh? Which ones?
I'm pretty sure the latest AC, whatever its name is, won't maintain 60FPS on a 4790K. But I don't play those games so I don't personally know. I've had issues in Far Cry 5 co-op in certain map areas, drops to 45-50FPS. Total War is basically a given, TWWH2 in large battles will easily drop to even

Still using 2500k because all I play is runescape.

Same here

Alright genius, so, what for do you need anything more than an i7 2600k?

ever tried to encode x265 on one of those shitty incel quad cores?

>ever tried to encode x265 on one of those shitty incel quad cores?
No. Where's that abundance of x265 anyway?

>not understanding what encoding is
thanks for more proof that incels are idiots

4770k + gtx970
I don't see any point in upgrading I can play every game I want at 60fps+ if I tweak the graphic settings.
there is almost no difference between LOW and SUPER MEGA HIGH in modern game since they are designed to be played on console (LOW settings).
keep sucking intel's cock delusional fags

Wouldn't a low power chip be enough for that?

Yes, but a 2500k is all I've got. I also used that machine to run a Minecraft server at a time so that's why I didn't get some pentium or celeron

intelnigger here, i am ashamed on his behalf.

>tfw went from 2500k to 4790k
it just keeps happening bros
