seriously, what laptop is acceptable to buy, besides thinkpads of course.

Dell XPS, maximum comfy
chromebooks might be another option since you can easily replace their bios with pure-coreboot with some older models with libreboot. by doing that it will also enable you to replace chromeOS enitrely and install normie distro like debian or arch.
thinkpads and macbooks are the only valid options
MACBOOK, hahahahahahahahahaha, pajeet
the problem with macbooks that they are pretty much locked down machines heck not only bios is'nt user replaceable they also have measurs against booting gnu/linux
What's with the Apple = Pajeet meme?
With Windows it's understandable but in India you probably have to be related to the president to afford Apple shit.
you are, literally buying into the brand, not to mention that the bios is not modifiable, you have to carry dongles for everything, you have to use other apple shit, you can not downoald linux or any other OS, woth the same amount of money spent you could have an upgraded thinkpad + a GAYming machine. the only benefit of a applebook is the lightness, built in quality, battery life. also if you damage it in any way the "genius bar" will either charge you shit ton of money or will advise you to buy a new pajeetbook. not to mention that they slow down older products, so you would buy newer ones.
matebook pro is comfy
i7+gtx+a butload of ram+ssd
I don't disagree that Apple is shit, I just don't see why it's associated with Pajeets, lol
as someone who erased macos and even installed gentoo on his macbook. no it isnt comfy not to mention port selection
>besides thinkpads
Lemote yeeloong.
but thinkpads are newer chinkware.....
Dell Latitude or XPS
hp elitebooks
inspiron 15 7k
Thinkpads. Unless you're a faggot, then you can buy a fagbook I guess.
Prestigio SmartBook 133S
oh, idk, its thrown around quite alot, i guess i just adopted the term.
macbook pro
Razer - razer.com
System76 - system76.com
i bought a thiccpad430 in really great condition, only one or two scratches on the chassis. only the display is so bad, perhaps the worst i have ever seen, good that you can upgrade to an ips one. the keyboard also sucks, fortunately its compatible with the t420 one. you can libreboot that little sucker, upgrade the battery, cpu, cpu cooler, trackpad. you dont get that kind of upgrade ability in any of the new laptops. its cons, display and its weigh.
true, the razer laptops are not the worst. never heard avout system76 tho
>Dell Latitude
Using one now. It's pretty ok. Been using it for uni work for two years now, no issues apart from difficulty with battery life (and finding new ones) but that might just be linux.
I've just received a new Dell g3 3579. The battery only lasts 3 or 4 hours from idling, which apparently is normal. It seems that batteries aren't a priority for budget gaming laptops.
You can use Dell Power Management to set your battery to only charge up to 80%, by the way. I'm doing that (as if it makes a difference) but I think it will help your batteries for longer.
>never heard avout system76 tho
they make laptops designed to run gnu/linux.
Another unique feature of their laptops is that they come with crippled down intel management engine. Only parts absolutely required to turn on the processor are kept, they removed the rest.
>Dell Power Management
How do this on linux fren?
There's tons of guides on how to set the maximum battery charge level in Linux. I don't know the deets because I'm just using a dell with their software. A Google search should give you quick answers.
Surface Book. Every other windows laptop keyboard is garbage.
>Surface
chinkshit
Go on. I want to know more about this so I can see how hard you're being spied on.
system76 is literally just rebranded chink shit with their Ubuntu skin preinstalled
I appreciate that they're trying to make Linux more approachable to casual users though so more power to them
There are no good laptops
Everything is a compromise
The Surface Book, not the Surface Laptop. The Laptop has the cheap fabric crap while the book has a keyboard that rivals MacBooks + USB C and legacy ports, so you have the best of both worlds.
depends what your needs are
for example, i need a desktop-replacement mobile workstation with a powerful CPU but i have no need for a GPU, which makes my options very limited (maybe 2 or 3 laptops being made right now in this niche).
I went with a Dell Precision M7530 with an i9 and no dGPU.
>book has a keyboard that rivals MacBooks
So a shitty one?
Too bad the OS is so shit.
Whatever Clevo rebranbing company near you has the least markup.
I bought an LG gram. it's nice, gave my desktop away and replaced it with the laptop and a docking station
Other business laptops or chinkshit. If you're gayming, clevo/eurocom/sager.
Not if you are willing to pay $5000 dollars.
>Keyboard that rivals macbooks
So slightly below average?
>16:9
no
Razer laptops are great for the first year or so until they shit themselves.
>with an i9
You really have gone for 3rd gen Ryzen. Especially since it was for workstation use. It's not even price to performance anymore. 3rd gen Ryzens are just faster than 9th gen Intel CPUs at all things workstation.
>Razer
These laptops only exist to take the money of gullible children.
in what laptop? that was my first choice but i couldn't find anything that had ryzen and fit my other requirements
>the razer laptops are not the worst
LinusShillTips said he never had a razerbook last him more than 2 years
Performance per dollar laptop... Dell 3579/3779, especially for an open box.
>Thunderbolt 3 (Only for the 1060 versions)
>M.2 PCIE SSD (3x2 though)
>2.5" HDD for Mass Storage
>Up to 32 GB (Comes with 8GB)
Only thing really is the screen is a TN, not IPS, so you can spend around $40-60 on a compatible IPS screen.
Retards on Jow Forums call everything they dont like "pajeet". Apple, Microsoft, Linux, Android etc. Ive seen all of those called Pajeet before. Indians mostly use Windows computers, just like every other country.
Why do some keys have outlines but others do not? Looks shit.
Eh, no clue about laptops with Ryzens. I just know the desktop Ryzens are much faster at workstation tasks than even the 9900k.
Gaming Laptop... WASD keys apparently need to be outlined.
I would never let my kid have a laptop.
Which is funny, because he keeps going back to them since he's unable to past the specs.
Well that's weird. My 3579 with its 1050ti came with IPS screen.
if you weren't talking about laptops why did you even post?
Well, I might, but it sure as hell won't be a gaming one.
Maybe I'm thinking of the 7567
>Well, I might, but it sure as hell won't be a gaming one.
Then who are gaming toys for?
Kids get laptops from schools for free. They need them to succeed. The only reason to be worried about it is if you don't want your kids to used their laptops to view porn. But if you're a true Jow Forumsman, you know that you make your router use open DNS, which blocks all porn sites and scam sites, and there are ways to monitor what they look up.
Not my kid, not trying to spend $900+ on a laptop for them to spill their Mountain Dew all over it.
I was talking about them, but I've admittedly never looked into getting a workstation laptop at your price range.
I wouldn't let them use a laptop, schools would want it to run Windows garbage. Plus, wouldn't want my kid exposed to brain rotting video games.
I don't think school given laptops are anywhere near powerful enough to run games. You can also check your kids laptops to see what they have installed through the control panel uninstall page.
Would have to make sure no Microsoft crap is installed.
You mean Zbooks.
Jow Forums used to only associates "pajeet" with microsoft
anyone who correlates "pajeet" with anything besides microsoft is probably newfag
How does Microsoft repair those when they break?
They don't.
I own the Cube Thinker i35, shouldve gotten a Thinkpad
Kys.
ryzen mobile is only up to 4 cores right now
I'm afraid microsoft word is necessary in some respects. I mean sometimes the kids are just given a digital word document and told to fill it out, then upload or print it.
Get this, Microsoft gives Office subscriptions to students for free. Gets them familiar with it so they don't use anything else when they grow up.
I wouldn't allow it. I don't want my kid to turn into an Indian.
It just means curry munching Indian tech guy to me.
You're either crazy or you don't really have a kid. No one could hold such weird, delusional opinions and convince a woman to have his child.
Just admit Microsoft is for basedboys.
Lenovo Thinkpads, Dell Latitudes, Apple Macbooks
razor one are meant to be good but i have the good old thinkpad
>microsoft
>not hugeerect
its in the name
wps office supports microsoft document standard s
>inb4 chink botnet
Im not from the US
macbook
>Dell 3579/3779
Are these the only decent choice for midrange? I heard from my cousin that the battery life on these are their huge downside and I play/stay on my laptop for a long while.
An Indian bloke i knew was one of the first people in my city to get an original iPhone. Plenty of rich pajeets retard and they love apple bling, plays right into their caste system.
pre 2015 macbooks unironically
just don't forget Retina.
Certain models from Dells, HP, Fujitsu, Panasonic.
Basically everything that has professional customers and can be bought second hand.
Too bad they are garbage
Indians love Apple shit, check out indian websites that sell phones and you will always see some shit like an iPhone 6 or something like that on top.
And not to mention that poor people also love spending what they don't have just to show off.
They have almost no battery at all. My brand new one lasts 4 hours with light browsing. They put in a weak battery and spent the rest of the budget on the parts. That's why you can't find better prices for the specs you get with the older gen G3. It's easy to open and stick in more RAM, too.
Honestly it is pretty great value if you use it as a desktop that you can carry around, or never stray too far from an outlet at the places you take it to. Only problem is they're all clearing out, since the gtx gen cards are out of production and stocks being bought out in clearance sales. I got mine for $450 off. And it actually felt like it was being discounted from its real value, instead of the outrageous fake discounts that PC sellers usually do.
Want to buy laptop mostly for productivity:
>lightweight and 13-14" for traveling
>multitasking in adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator and sometimes AE/Premiere)
>web development
>media streaming
Deciding between:
>Asus Zenbook UX433FN
>Dell XPS
In specs I guess I would go for:
>i7
>256-512GB SSD
>16GB RAM
Any other notebooks in similar pricepoint worth to look at?
Used thinkpad.
Whatvhappened to the conceptD 9? I thoughtvit was coming out soon
I would go for X1 carbon but it's expensive af for the same specs. Other thinkpads are too thick and big for me
Macbook
dell latitude
>Honestly it is pretty great value if you use it as a desktop that you can carry around, or never stray too far from an outlet at the places you take it to
how about a powerbank?
