I watch most videos at 2x speed. Sometimes I need to go higher, so I open the video in mpv. But that is only with particularly slow Americans.

It seems like the disagreement on this thread mainly comes from the difference in speed that people can absorb information at.

Most videos or podcasts are easily sped to 1.25-1.5x with absolutely no loss for me, including what

is trying to say. Shortening the time to react to a piece of information or a joke by 20%-33% isn't meaningful for my brain, but maybe it is for his.

I think the point about information overload is true as a rule, though. Some things are hard to listen to at 1.25x, some are easy to listen to at 2.5x.

no but youtube saves the speed if it's the same tab. but in any case you'll be changing it often depending on what's happening in the video. quickly to 2.0x with < and > keys on yuotube, then finetune up or down with 's' or 'd' used by the plugin (for 0.1x speed changes)
