i don't know user, it looks pretty small to me.

Why does it look so ugly?

Shit taste senpai
If you have to ask then it's not for you

Zero competition.

It's not? Seems really reasonable if the DAC is as good as they claim.

>sony
oh gee, let me think

But I was under the impression that high end audio equipment were only expansive because audiofags were stupid.

If you have to ask, you're incapable of fully appreciating it.

because people pay for it

Exactly, they price it exactly what an audiofag would expected and is willing to pay.

My old X-series walkman was perfect.

>physical controls and headphone jack on top, can operate from jeans pocket

>perfect touch screen with OLED

and almost forgot, it had a very nice grippy texture on the side, almost like granite stone, never seen this material in any other product, it never wore down.

now they are all aluminum bs

First, I think the word you're looking for is expEnsive.
Second, maybe it's just been a long time since I've bought a PMP (don't see much of a point when my phone has 256GB built in), but $220 sounds pretty decent. Granted, I would prefer about 20x the built in storage for that price though. 16GB is kinda laughable.

That's ZX300
It's $700

Looks just like the NW-A40 to me. Could be worse. Could be this.

those cases are milled out of a single aluminum block, they are pretty sturdy and cool looking.

Not really. Bought mine new for 300$.

Used?

>new
Bought it on joybuy. They often have sales.
It was a 16gb version but who cares, memory cards are cheap now.

Miles aluminum case is not why it's over $3k, you can probably get one off cases as a random for less than $200 and Sony has the benefits of production ties

No. It's gold plated copper. Also shit like braided internal cables, 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm, 6.3mm unbalanced jacks, etc. Basically a bunch of shit no one really "needs".
