Because overall it's still the best option. I get to have all of the features of mpv (better than any browser) and don't have to allow as much js on sites (helps performance and security).

Yes, it plays the best quality by default. It's able to stream DASH. It can stream 8k if you're able to. But my internet connection can't handle 4k so I force 1080p as the default.
