how do people put up with this shit?

So this is the power of Linux? Woah.

>install rolling release distro despite everyone telling you that they're high maintenance and not for the casual user
>complain about updates
based retard

>915gb
>how do people put up with fantasy talk?

>500 packages to update, 915GB download
How do you think someone will fall for this bullcrap?

fedora is not rolling release retard

>not use windows for a while
>two updates get sent out during that time
>boot up windows again
>forever stuck because wangblows can't up grade from 1803 to 1903, skipping 1809
also
>915GB
>probably has every single DE imaginable installed
>HURRRRR WHY UPDATES SO BIG

>ITT people fall for this

Last month I've installed 1.69TB of updates.
I use arch btw

last night I unloaded 2.73 gallons of semen into your dirty whore mother's filthy vagina

low quality bait, also
>windows
just kys

Plot twist: it actually was your dilated """vagina"""

I just installed Ubuntu with GNOME (so the default Ubuntu) on a laptop I received.
320 GB HDD, 305 GB free (4,6% full)

This is a pretty bloated distro and not the minimal install, it's the full install with a very bloated DE. The whole thing is 15 GB. Even if every single part of it would be upgraded at the same time it would only be 15 GB. To get 915 GB worth of upgrades you have to work for it more than anyone else. You can only blame yourself for getting it to that point, I mean if any of this would be true and not a troll tread.

There isn't enough of a code base in arch to generate that in 60 years in update deltas let alone a month. You have to go back.

>t. never used arch

>>boot up
packages to update, 915GB download
nice try bill

the entire repo is around 60gb,
you could not generate more than around 20G of difference if you updated every single piece of software the arch project provided every single time an update was release in the last month.
t. arch user.

>he uses only official repos
>pretends to be arch user while knows nothing about 1.68TB upgrade cycle
just stop it...

Oh, so you're a aur-helper, that explains it. I thought you where trolling, now I can just see you're either mentally ill or deficient, thanks for clearing that up. See open next time with the fact you're using an aur-helper and I might believe your stupid drivel.

>t. makes his life harder on purpose
yikes...

an aur package is just as easy if not easier to install than pacman packages, it's simply a different interface. Stop using an AUR helper and start reading up on the packages you use and it make not seem so "hard" to git clone and then makepkg -si. But I guess cumbrains MUST have their apt install.

Solution is very simple.
Stop using windows.

By installing a minimal distro.
The updates are optional, unlike on windows.

>do it this I way, I do! Not your way!
uh-oh...

>my way is shite and results in 1tb update cycles
oh no no no

shit bait

It's Linux what is shit.
Windows masterrace! Only race you have is shitty tux kart!

i got 8.5petabytes of updates for xubuntu last nite
it has wrecked my metered connection
download is still going. this is intolerable

Right. The whole of Arch repositories is 60GB.

You see, windows does the smart thing and doesn't tell you how much it's downloading.

Protip: It's more. A lot more.

so ur saying, the whole amount of software available to linuxlets amounts to 60 gb only?

just fucking lol

Agreed.
Last time I had to updgrade my gentoo laptop, I had to download 694.2 GB of data
And it suppose to be LIGHT!?
unacceptable.

In 10 years I've updated Manjaro every 2 weeks and I used a total of 100 Megabytes.

most of those are packages you don’t need for devices you don’t have
