Most devs use either macOS or Ubuntu/Fedora/RHEL in my experience. MacOS offers all the same tools, just with a significantly nicer GUI and a few native apps like Safari, Pages, and Numbers that are worthwhile.

Forgot to add, I had been using Hackintosh for 3 months last year and it was easy for me to break it fiddling with hackintosh settings, but I guess the same goes for linux too in a way.

ive tried making a hackintosh. loaded clover to my flash drive, threw the fakekexts in, and then dropped the .dmg onto the drive.
no option to boot macos from the clover menu.

macOS is more based on Mach than Berkeley's kernel. Plus, macOS' origin predates any of the modern BSDs (post-AT&T lawsuit) by half a decade.
