How long does it take your brain to return to normal after taking antidepressants?

I stopped taking my SNRI in November. I am over the physical sideeffects but I still feel depressed and anxious. I can't seem to focus and I just feel like every day goes by and I'm on autopilot. I'm beginning to fear that I may have messed up my neurochemistry permanently. Fuck.

Take your meds you mong. Don't listen to the paranoid schizophrenics here listen to your fucking doctor.

Dude, weed

Take amino acids. All of them.
Not just a few. ALL OF THEM.

There’s plenty of options online, mix and match different amino acid supplements until you obtain all of them.

After that, find a nutritional supplement that has everything your body needs, some of those contain amino acids as well.

Cymbalta and other meds like it are based on synthetic amino acid structures.

Until you sue the therapist who sold you on that crap it will never go away.

It literally never returns to normal. You couldn't deal with life now either continue taking the SNRI jew forever or enjoy a life even worse than when you started out

>Been taking zoloft since 2012

How fucked am I?

You're almost to the 3 month point where you should start to notice differences. Give it a good year to get an idea of your new normal. You'll have to put some work into it if you want something other than where you are now.

Some changes are permanent. You need to raise your own endorphin levels with exercise and get proper nutrition. Your brain is going to be like that of a drug addict. You will slowly begin to hit a euphoria phase that can last a few weeks as your brain starts trying to produce more feel good chemicals. As your brain adjust you will hit the wall phase which can take a year or more. It will feel like you are trapped and not making progress but you have to persist. Good luck.

I was on Effexor (venlafaxine) for 6 years, gained a shit load of weight, and became numb emotionally.

After obtaining supplements containing all 20 amino acids, I weaned myself off of the effexor until quitting completely in September last year.

It changed my life. I have my sex drive back, I’m losing weight like crazy, and I’m emotionally well.

Oh, I also take St. John’s Wart

how long did you take it for? id expect it to take about as long as you took it for the discontinuation effects to stop.

i think any way to lower serotonin could be helpful. you could try feverfew herbal tincture, not in pill form. another thing you can do to empower your nulled senses is to buy a slow juicer and make fresh unpasteurized juices, do a juice fast where you consume nothing but fresh juice for 5-7 days. i think maybe drinking distilled water could help but i have no experience with that.

there are also some pharmaceuticals that could help. look up sertonin antagonists. i suppose lsd could help, taken at very low doses not more than 1/10th the hallucinogenic dose, but that is just me theorizing. but anything that lowers serotonin should be helpful

whatever you do dont take tryptophan or 5htp, conversely taurine or tyramine might be helpful

take nac 3 times a day

14 days or so.

If you feel like shit after ~2 weeks, it's because you have to adjust back to your normal levels. And if you still feel like shit, then the SNRI was making you feel better.

My suggestions:
>exercise and maybe hike
>take normal supplements, multi-vitamins, make sure they have all the minerals like zing, magnesium and all that, just go for 100% of daily recommended dose in 1 pill
>if you have the money, go for a 14 day vacation somewhere quiet to reset, like a nice tropical island
I'd give it 6 months. If it doesn't work, then like others have said, your brain chemistry is fucked and maybe you NEED to take those pills. You should talk to your psychiatrist about trying different meds.

>I'm beginning to fear that I may have messed up my neurochemistry permanently.
You haven't. You just need to find other ways to get your brain functioning correctly. You need to develop strong self discipline and good habits if you want to eventually be free of depression/anxiety. It's absolutely possible if you make some changes to your lifestyle, diet, exercise, and general habits/routine, but these changes need to become permanent. Cut out as much alcohol, fast food, and drugs as you can as part of developing self discipline and come up with a routine that you can follow for exercise/hobbies/socialising. Some supplements that might help you along the way are Ashwaghanda (helps your brain change the way it reacts to stress anxiety to make it easier to manage), 5HTP (simply increases serotonin levels, works for some people, but not everyone), Tyrosine (should increase dopamine, some studies suggest it helps you deal with stress more easily). You should also be getting some fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin D supplements along with a healthy diet. If you do take 5HTP make sure you also take some EGCG (green tea extract) with it to prevent heart issues. Read up on those supplements on examine.com

Good luck faggot

t. Used to have depression/anxiety but completely got rid of it for 5 years now

that is interesting. what amino acids do you take, how much, and when?

talk to a fucking doctor you dumb cunt, not Jow Forums

The human curse of gift is that eventually everything is compensated for. This is why tolerance builds and drugs lose their pleasant effects. This is why your brain will initiate hypertrophy in other areas to compensate for a different, damaged part. Your brain will heal OP, all in good time. Soon enough you’ll be back to normal and all of this will be a distant memory.

This, do NOT medicate. Weed can handle most withdrawal as well as giving you its normal benefits. It can take months for get back to normal. I took that shit for 2 weeks decades ago and I could feel my optic nerve tingling 24/7.

Took me six months to get a hard on. Never ever take any SSRI SNRIs.

You can return if your time taking was low. I took for a month, jacked me for half a year. Someone taking high doses for years? RIP.

completely

This

your brain isnt going "back to normal", your symptoms are returning you fucktard. just take 5-htp fucking retarded ass nigger.

Dr. will just prescribe a shit ton of different medications and doses until op kills himself or fixes himself.

Forgot to mention the number 1 most important thing you need to fix - your sleeping habits. Get to bed at a reasonable time every night and get up reasonably early. Sleep 6-8 hours per night, never more and never less.

This as well. NAC has done wonders for me.

Here’s my concoction:

-Powerful Nutritional Supplement
-Freeform Amino Acid Combo Pills
-Fish Oil Capsules
-5-HTP (Fuck you if you don’t like it)
-NAC
-L-Tyrosine tablets
-St Johns Wort

It’ll change your life

Get out of your pozzed city, preferably to rural America and find a white husband to fill you full of white babies. Oh and don’t make shit decisions and poor choices that will only make you more depressed cause it’s fucking tedious to deal with

Really? I have a higher sex drive on mine

>Took me six months to get a hard on.
That sounds like hell. What are they doing to us?

I stopped taking effexor and made it 3 months without it until I got more depressed than I ever was before taking effexor. Once you start antidepressants you are on it for life. Your brain is fucked. Going for a jog and joining the gym won't fix it lmao.

oh and also coffee. find out whatever form of coffee you tolerate the best, regular, instant, cold brew etc. and then drink as uou can tolerate. if it makes you shaky and anxious you need to eat more carbohydrates. lower your dose, eat more carbs, then try to up your dose again

I've never taken them and I have severe autopilot and severe lack of focus

Based mods moving a slide thread.

Anyone noticed how OP didn't respond?

Has to end my nearly 4 year relationship with a girl dosed on meds to the max her whole life

Her mother ruined her. She wasn’t a real person on that shit. I guess I really never knew her

they're bad, never touch them

Unironically this.

For me, if I find myself asking Jow Forums for medical advice I say it’s time I take my fucking medicine

Hey man why did Jow Forums remove this thread

gtfo

Doctors get paid to push this shit
