It's nothing to do with being Christian. The West Saxon genealogy includes Woden as a forefather. As do the genealogies of all the Anglo-Saxon royal houses, except that of the East Saxons, who claimed descent from Seaxneat.

Likely, but as far as I am aware, it is only the English royal houses that preserve the genealogies, though I'm not sure about the Norse kings. I'd have to check. Also in the English genealogies are Baeldaeg (Baldr), Seaxneat, and a host of legendary heroes.

In later Christian additions. Same with the Scandinavian genealogies, isn't it? which were cribbed by the Icelanders from the English. They shoved all sorts of characters in there (Ceasar too, in one of them.) The addition of pagan gods in the genealogies (Woden, Baeldaeg, etc) was also likely a Christian process of euhemerisation, i.e., demoting the gods to heroes.
