Just like it's almost always been barring a handful of consistently good eras like the late 70s, mid-late 90s, early 00s and early 10s. I don't get why people pretend the pre-2000s was some endless back-to-back of quality anime when the ratio of good to bad is almost the exact same. It just seems worse because the quantity of anime's gone up a ton and the money in the industry's stretched across 50+ anime per season.
Post-2015 anime's been boring with exceptions, but the same can be said about the early 90s and majority of 80s TV anime.

I never said the 70s, 80s and 90s were any better. I'm just saying anime's innovation is slowing down to a crawl. During the early 2000s some studios were inclined to experiment often on titles that deviated from the main fads but that's all there's to it, anime is a heavily commercial genre that can't and never will be on par with any form of art whatsoever.
