What quest was that in Classic EQ? Because classic EQ only had a few optional "collect x amount of shit" in newbie zones. Only one I remember is in Freeport. The irony here is that there was 100 quests per overland zone in WoW that did JUST that.

I remember in early 2005, my friends in 11th grade pushed me to get WoW. At that time I was already trying out EQ2 (it had an extremely rough first year) so I decided why the hell not. Fucking awful. Doing pick up groups was me being stuck with 7-12 year olds all around and nobody actually coordinating. And why would they? There was no consequence for being retarded in an instance. It was just an unpleasant experience and that was my time in WoW up until I got to level 60. I just did not enjoy it at all.

In EQ1, every pick up group you're in was usually capable and competent. Especially after the first 10 levels.
