It can get pretty hot in the summer but it's only on rare occassions that it gets hot enough for heat waves to come
So the temperatures are fine in my opinion, although I prefer winter any day over summer

it's a glacial volcano called Katla
there are legends of it being the gateway to hell and i think it's one of the most powerful volcano's on the planet

NZ actually has one of the 20 or so supervolcanoes in the world, on par with yellowstone (everyone knows the effects yellowstone eruption would have on the us, imagine on a country less than a 10th the size lole) also it was the most recent super-eruption in history 25k years ago and had a "minor" eruption a few thousand years ago that was seen from and recorded in china and rome

btw for size reference the white dots down the bottom are buildings because people live around it
if you google image a map of NZ you should see a giant dot in the middle of the north island because its big enough to show up on maps

The landscape around my place is literally made up of rocky debris transported scandinavian glaciers, I'd say it counts too.
