Of course not. There's an acceptance that if you don't go to panels and you don't get down with the weebing out shit (cosplay contests, dances, etc.) then you'll need shit to do so we try to setup a lot of casual sit down and do nothing shit like rooms with just random anime on, different games to play both outside an inside (I use to run the Ninja ((don't ask)) group in utah) to keep people either doing something or watching people do something.
Usually it's just normal people dude. It's not a super freak convention but you will see a lot of people in cosplay because it's fun as fuck.

Yeah anime clubs are awful. They're a little too niche that they're just a small anime clique. They don't really care about the anime you're watching or into they just want you to watch whatever they're watching.
The upside to an anime convention is everyone knows that everyone else is an autistic sperg that loves different anime so you can just sperg out with people. You're a weeb there but it's okay because everyone is just like you. It doesn't matter if you're not into a specific anime or act a certain way or even look a certain way. So long as you're having fun and trying to have fun with people you're doing it right.
In that picture I'm shirtless with 3 biocunts and 1 qt boi tranny with my nasty beard and skeletor body feeding a fat gay goku cheap japanese food in spite of anything making sense.
That's the wonderful beauty of going to an anime convention. You may just show up to smoke a blunt at the rave and have a few drinks at home after and end up hosting a furry orgy in your living room.
