Nonetheless, a combination of all of these will help you understand paganism both as its own system, as well as how paganism relates to other religions and also to more universal philosophical and spiritual concepts.

Anyone who has read it knows this, but PhD-level anthropologists are split into two camps of "conservatives" and "liberals" (and yes it is very, very political, hence mid-east shit). If anyone has ever read history books on the ancient mid-east knows, it was a violent place no matter which side you were on, and pagans were just as violent.
