it can be anime, music, books, movies, video games, or anything else.

I'd say try anime, music, books, movies, video games, or anything else.
I meant specific works of media, of course
Should've said so right from the get go then, demanding motherfucker. All jokes aside though, it depends a lot on your personality, what you want etc. Do you want to embrace the melancholy or do you want to get rid of it? What makes you feel better, what speaks to you?
I can list of some things, but they are stuff I found to my liking, no clue what you'd think about them. Also, it'd be mostly sung poetry and polish at that, so there's a problem there, as you can see.
I guess something to embrace melancholy
I don't mind sung poetry in Polish if it's something you can appreciate with just the voice

You certainly can. Here are some more 'popular' and melancholic songs of my favourite of the bunch then:

Tell me if you like it, I can post more. Though I recommend that if you do, you just try anything of the guy, I like pretty much every song of his.
Also have some of a different bunch, really great stuff too:

This last one I discovered fairly recently, even though I've been listening to their songs for years now and I fell in love with it. Hope you like it.
Also, if you actually listen to any of these, tell me what do you think polish sounds like. I mean, what would you compare it to, but not in terms of other languages, I've heard some nice comparisons, so I'm curious what people think.
Sex in Giovanni's Room
Now that I listen to them, I guess I put in some less melancholic ones too by accident. Semi-melancholic perhaps or something. Eh, they're good songs too.
These are nice from what I've listened to so far, thank you anons I'll continue to listen to them
Wow these sound very nice, thank you.
It seems that some of the videos aren't available in america though.
I think the polish sounds beautiful but I'm not sure what I would compare it to, to me it just sounds like someone making up melodic jibberish (in a good way).
Ah dammit, which ones aren't working? I'm bound to be able to find alternatives.
Also, here are two of my favourites of the first guy's. With this kind of music it's rarely a melancholic/non-melancholic situation, they're usually somewhere on the spectrum. And also they're less popular, so not the most obvious picks.

The second one isn't melancholic at all probably. Fuck it, I'm not gonna have another chance to share it. Still, as I said, I like pretty much every piece by the guy.
I asked because I heard people make some really nice comparisons, like that it sounds like rustle of leafs, which at first I took as an insult, but grew to see as quite a pretty way to describe the sound of the tongue.
Goddammit, have this too, damn I forgot how great those songs were:

those that I can listen to sound very nice, though
hm some of these aren't very melancholy but they're good songs nonetheless, thanks user
I downloaded them and compressed into a .rar file you can get here:
files.catbox.moe
I added two bonus songs too that I really like, that are actually covers of songs of some other great artists, that'd be the "Nie wiem o trawie" (literally "I don't know about grass") and "Jak linoskoczek". I like them more than the originals, though that's most likely because I heard them first. Oh well.
Sadly the usual program I use for downloading stuff from youtube seems to have a hiccup of some kind, so I used one of those yt to mp3 sites. It's not that bad I guess, considering audio quality on youtube isn't the best to begin with per usual.
wow thank you pole-user
I really can't tell the difference between bitrates so don't worry about that
Sure. Have those too. I can't believe I forgot about pretty much the most melancholic song the guy has. It's titled "Everything, that's beautiful (and 'passes' is added sometimes, I don't for reasons that I don't want to waste time explaining)", already sounds melancholic, eh?

Got you two links in case one's down. The first one is better quality I reckon. And the third is another song I really like that no one knows.
Glad you're liking them, sung poetry isn't the most popular genre, so it's nice to know someone out there likes that kind of music still. Only one and a half song of the guy I'm posting I actually heard in radio. I say one and a half, because I am not sure if one of them, mainly "KawaĆek cienia" that I posted earlier, I have heard in car radio put on by my dad and not in actual fm stuff. The other one's here:

Less melancholic, so I haven't really posted it, but it's certainly his most popular piece. And no wonder, it's a great song. Pretty nostalgic for me too, first heard it as a kid and loved it even then.
youtu.be
Watch this movie. It's one of the few things that motivates me when I'm feeling melancholy. Leave the commie shit aside and it's a good movie on how our experiences and peoples suffering can make a huge change in our lives. Also it has cool soundtrack, Perfect for alone times.
that is very melancholic
here's a sad song that someone posted in a thread when I was reminiscing over old Jow Forums so it always reminds me of that and makes me want to look through the archives while crying
youtube.com
it says the youtube video is blocked in my country but maybe I'll find a download for it later, thank you
i post on Jow Forums(nel)
i don't think Jow Forums counts as media
oh then i binge watch random youtube videos
some videos i have saved:

the half life soundtrack is so nice
lately i've been watching television shows from my childhood on youtube:
Adventure Time Clips
Chowder Clips/full episodes
probably going to watch regular show, and adventure time all the way soon on hulu
used to also binge watch futurama. may get into bobs burgers eventually
NOW BERSERK 1999, soothing soundtrack and overall a nice animu
also archer
is LSD a media?
That's quite a nice song actually, even though I'm not the type of bloke who'd like avant garde all that much. It has a nice, almost theatrical structure to it. Which I guess makes it more classical than most modern music which is a paradox I'm not going to delve deeper into.
Since I'm in a mood to listen to some good ol' Polish stuff, I might as well post it here:
youtube.com
I actually like the lyrics to this song too, but there aren't many and the music is awesome. The title translates to "It's hard not to believe in anything".
Also, screw you for that gif. I'm now going to get all 'oh why I haven't finished that show yet, I should finish it, I mean, I've been on nth episode for so long now' for quite a while, knowing me. I have too many shows I've began, want to finish, but haven't finished for whatever reasons.
I always thought Viper was ironic meme music but it actually doesn't sound that bad
nice, Regular Show was my favorite
I don't think so
yeah I don't like the weird Brian Eno beeps either, just the part with the violin and stuff
that's a nice polish song too, what do some of the lyrics mean?
>oh why haven't I finished that show yet
which anime is it? I haven't seen it
Do it anyways. For point of life's sake. or simply for the colors.
here's some more

God will ask, in his heaven,
what have I given him, from myself.
I believed and loved,
and I was the one, who he'd like me to be,
And I lived like he'd like me to live
and I was the one, who I was supposed to be.
I'll reply to him, from myself,
that I'll repay the debt, the better
and the more because I knew,
what it means that I was missing hope.
And a few moments, few good moments,
maybe he'll say, those are unimportant words.
It's hard not to believe in anything (x4)
God will ask, in his heaven,
how will I repay the debt, I don't know.
I believed and loved,
and I was the one, who he'd like me to be.
It's hard not to believe in anything...
And that's basically it, more or less. Sorry if it seems a little wonky, it's hard to translate some of the grammatical forms etc. directly from Polish to English. We just speak in somewhat different ways.
>which anime is it? I haven't seen it
It's Strike Witches, an ecchi show about military magical girls fighting aliens. I actually enjoyed the eight or so episodes I've seen.
oh, thanks for the translation
I would probably like these songs even more if I knew Polish
>Strike Witches
sounds interesting
maybe I'll watch it someday but it'll probably just sit in my backlog forever
Really, really great songs. I'll have to look arround similiar stuff at some point. The Carissa one reminded me of this piece:
youtube.com
and also this russki one for whatever reason:

Beautiful songs, I do mean it.
>this one isn't as melancholic
Perhaps, however it's actually more touching than the other, more melancholic one, at least for me. When you 'feel into' (google tells me the phrase I want to use is 'empathize', but I doubt that's not really it) it, a father giving probably close to last advice he will be able to give to his son, conveying his whole life, everything he experienced, the emotion still present deep in heart and memories of a calm, old man. I don't know why exactly, but I do find it more powerful than that tale of tragic death of a second cousin, although it was great too, exploring some very interesting motifs.
honestly, i listen to this often
youtu.be
if you wanna get out of that melancholy, i usually switch directly to metal and get powered up
yes the whole album with Carissa called "Benji" is very good
those that you posted are pretty good too. I've heard of The Mountain Goats but never listened to them before.
>it's actually more touching than the other
yes I think you're right, it's definitely more powerful than the other
I also like these
