Daily reminder that half the speakers of any language barely learn it beyong a conversational level. Probably some of the people here saying they speak multiple languages are holding themselves to that low standard.

no time for another language because i'm too busy watching/playing everything in english so i wont forget too many words and there's the cultural aspect, which is pretty important too. and lets not forget all the dialects/accents.

who cares for all the languages you learn in school? you wont stay up-2-date on most of them especially latin. whats there to learn anyway? ever watched a movie in latin? a game? ever had a conversation in latin out of school?

I'm so jealous of you guys. I can read and write English a little bit but I speak and hear only Japanese.

It's mainly about interest. After doing French in high school I went to a private teacher for many years. Today I am pretty much fluent and have a French girlfriend.
