Take something as basterdized as Dubstep, it's roots are jamaican reggae and new york house music being transported to the UK turning into a uk garage and dub, being mixed together, then going back to the Americas in the form of festival music.

Electronic music is kind of bag. I've been collecting 12" since I was 15. I've been DJ'ing since earlier. Calling myself a historian sounds pretentious but I've spent so much fucking time listening, learning and badly attempting to make this music that it's almost an obsession. I can tell you right now that you're wrong. Euro pop in large part was pioneered by the British. I cant think of any electronic subgenre the British didn't pioneer. Techno, House, trance, even iconic sounds like hardcore techno(gabber) of the dutch was pioneered in the UK. They have been the cultural exporters for that regional, historically. It makes sense since they got it from the US. They share a language and no one is influenced more by US than them-- even if they deny it--so they've been like gate keepers.
