This thread is for the discussion of the language, culture, travel, daily life, etc. of Japan. Let's tark at randam in Japanese and English. Take it easy!
What is the Japanese word for the type of gym that has dumbbells, squat racks, benches, bars, etc? How do I find one in Tokyo that will let a foreigner in?

privately-owned gymnasium is called in Japanese "ジム", "gimu", yeah this is a borrowed word from German or English. Anyway why don't you use anytimefitness? There are some in Japan too.

雪の中のJK いいね つかいません 句読点は、漢文の影響です 源氏物語も枕の草子も、原文は「分かち書き」という方法で書かれていました ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/わかち書き nativeに答えてもらえるよう疑問点を整理しようぜ This is how he behaved himself there は 「このように彼はそこで立ち振舞った」 で、そのままhowはthe way in whichでおきかえられる。 知ってのように、the wayとhowを同時に使ってはならず This is the way (in which) he behaved himself there the way in whichと書けてもthe way howとは書けない。 僕の知っているのは、実は、この文のhowは接続詞だという考えがあるということだけ。 それから、moodやaspectはVP(動詞句)にかかわる概念なので、modality(法性、様相性)かなと思う。 ここで、彼が訊いているのは This is how he behaved himself there 「このように彼はそこで立ち振舞ったのだった」(拙訳) という文のhowは、関係詞か接続詞か疑問詞かということだと思うし、この言い方には、話者のどのような気持ちが込められているかということだと思う Tell me how to answer his question. As for "how" of "This is how he behaved himself there". Which is it, a relative. a conjunction or an interrogative? What feeling does the speaker imply by using this word?
確かに"the way=how"であり、"X is the way Y does Z"になるのはわかるんだ X=the wayの等式が成り立つからな 問題は >This is how long it takes. >That is how fun Mahjong should be.
Some user in the other Japanese thread said it’s unlegible. Even tho it looks like a famous Shunga, I’m pretty sure it’s an original design. It was a collab with a Japanese streetwear brand so I’m pretty sure it’s not just gibberish
How it used to be is that they were differentiated じ=ʑ and ぢ=dʑ ず=z and づ=dz
for example じしん=自信/自身、ぢしん=地震 みず=見ず、みづ=水 however, since this distinction in pronunciation is gone in many places, the spelling reform after WWII eliminated ぢ and づ from most words exceptions being rendaku and words like つづく, ちぢむ etc.
As for the pronunciation itself what I've noticed is that that for じ/ぢ, most people have ぢ, i.e. with the D sound in front of course, this also applies to じゃ、じゅ and so on
ず/づ tends to be づ/Dz when it's the first syllable, like in ずっと or in ぜったい and a "normal" Z elsewhere, like in かず or かぜ
Either way i'm not even sure if the phoneme i caught from your pronunciation is the voiced postalveolar fricative in the first place. Japanese people don't tell it from the other two phonemes anyways.
