Just place a goat on it

Why do scandis do this tho?

do you own the goat or do they just come and go?

For what purpose?

isolation from cold

even our churches have it

>>norwegians : is this culture?
It is. The architectural history of a nation is very important, as it tells us how they lived, and perhaps how they live today. It tells us about the aesthetic and practical considerations of the old norwegians.

when did jersey get its own flag
do other us provinces also have them

why is faero grass so dull and brown?

It's probably late or early in the year, user.

we're a self governing island. british dependency.

extremely comfy thread

it changes with season. And also sheep grass down to the earth and make it all appear brown.

If I hadn't known you were Faroese I'd swear that this pic is from somewhere higher up on Hardangervidda, over the treeline.
God damn, that is MAX homely.

>tfw no nordic kurosawa to do films about the viking age
Hrafninn Flygur is not enough, I want MORE

Isn't that how Halflings in Tolkien books lived.

In part, yeah. Some lived in homes above ground, sometimes with grass roof, and others lived in hollowed-out hills.

That's good old Mykines, Mykines. Only village on a small island.

Once went there on summer holiday as a kid, good times.

do you get many visitors to the faroes? would love to see it.

>others lived in hollowed-out hills.
WE

>hobbiton is in croatia
unexpected

Torfhús are top comfy as well as aesthetic

There's a house in my town that's modern in almost every way except it opts for a grassy roof

Attached: hálfgert torfhús.png (1116x558, 976K)

I need to fucking visit the Faroes some time. Bring my camera and go wild.

Norway also has inbred bipedal monkeys (zoomalis) and inbred caucasoids (ar*bs).

Local roof goat rental service

Atleast they don't have inbred slavoids (r*manians) as their main population

love it. really like the wooden homes with the grass.

Tradition mixed with modernity is pretty based in architecture.

yes, tourism has grown a lot in recent years. If i remember correctly there were 300 000 tourists last year.

Little Mykines with a population of only 14 people gets around 10 000 visitors each year.

you are verry welcome

Slovenia has MOSS roofs

incredible...

>Little Mykines with a population of only 14 people gets around 10 000 visitors each year.
must be annoying for the locals desu.

>must be annoying for the locals desu.
Could be that it's actually what enables them to live there.

Puerto Rico has one because it's a territory. I think the U.S. Virgin Islands do too.

They're wonderful

Only problem with them is that if they're not being used by toruists, they eventually fall into disuse and begin harboring all kinds of nasty shit for your respiratory system

Had to seal one of them up this summer because some people who went in a couple of months back got rather sick after being in there for a few hours

Turfhouses take it a bit further than just having grass on the roof, no? Like they're actually insulated with turf blocks on the inside?

perhaps. i'm just assuming they live off the land.

is it due to mould? shame. would love to live in one.

>growing spiders above your house
fauck that

I believe so, since they were made with widespread shortage of wood and other construction materials in mind
>mould
Most likely

Can't ask for better conditions than darkness and humidity

>Could be that it's actually what enables them to live there.
no, tourism didn't really exists untill like 10 years ago. They might benefit from it now, but have for the longest time managed to live without it. There is a ferry two times a day, so i imagine they go off to the mainland and work.

That makes sense. Thanks user!

think i'm in love

oh fuck, i wonder how constantly they see venomous spiders

>jersey flag is back
are you the pedo?

As usual, the dane comes in and ruins the entire post
Please drown.

>venomous spiders
Doesn't exist in cold countries

>>jersey flag is back
i've posted here consistently
>are you the pedo?
no

>venomous spiders
>scandinavia

Attached: 1542921314150.png (794x872, 278K)

There is actually a venomous snake in Norway and most of Europe afaik. "Common European Adder", otherwise no dangerous creepy crawlies

oh really? no spiders have adapted themselves to the cold climate?
hold on, i will be sending our best buddies to you, they *wander* around too much around the same areas

your fauna must be really low then, right?

>no spiders have adapted themselves to the cold climate?
It's not that I think, it's just that there's jack shit for them to kill or compete in killing

Compare that to the equator where everything is bustling with life and spiders might not be able to call it a day by catching flies all day and may instead have to resort to taking down larger prey (that can fight back)

We have a shitload of different spiders but I'm pretty sure all of them are harmless

our wandering spider maybe could adapt (not immediately of course) to your region, it doesn't hunt using webs and it has the most potent venom of all spiders, and i don't think the temperature affects their life so much as they are sometimes found nearly anywhere around the world through exported banana patches

It would probably freeze to death in the winter and if not, starve since small animals don't go outside during that time of year.
