>I want a 20% tip

ha HA AH AHA HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAA

as if, you get 10% + (10%/2), be grateful

imagine being so dumb that you cannot instantaneously 20% of 105.47 and need this "FIRST MOVE THE DECIMAL OVE-" gayness.

would sooner go hungry than give a tip. fuck you servers, i'll get the fucking food myself if it means shutting you up

They better be some damn good waiters if i'm gonna tip 21 dollars

Like giving me a blowjob or some shit

>giving 20%

I laff

>If you cannot afford this then do not go out to eat
America, I ...

I got a $12 tip today delivering a pizza today
I think the guy misheard the price as $48 instead of $38 but im going to use that money to get drunk

Attached: 1544050232796.jpg (612x408, 29K)

I have a better process:
>ask for your servers name
>search for it on Twitter
>if they post horseshit like this then no tip

>20% tip
lol

Nobody actually thinks like that. Aside from a few rich cunts.

There are some high class restaurants that require tips for whatever reason, though.

Do you spit on pizza of customers who don't tip? tell the truth.

Millenials.

>giving tips
are amerimutts retarded? why do they even do it?

Attached: 1488297665159.jpg (225x234, 54K)

I don't understand the percentage argument. Unless it's ALOT of food it's not like they went to significantly more effort. I just always give like ~$10. I'll give $20 if they're awesome.

why do you think everyone is filthy and evil like yourself schlomo?

How would they spit on food that’s already in the customer’s hand?

So the boss don't need to pay the dick suckers and have some tax free money in his hands.

I don't expect tips at all I make $20 an hour and 75% of people pay online before
It's normally just somebody who can't be bothered with a couple of dollars of change

most states have laws that let tips be taxed lol

I don't, I just read a bunch of posts on the internet of waiters/deliverymen who say they do it.

Returning customers.

We don't tip in Austarlia, the only time I have ever seen it done is when someone accidently fucks up a Uber driver call by needing to go back somewhere and they slip them a 10-20$ note.

Good luck enforcing that. Brilliant.

No my final total is 105.47 ya greedy cunt

Open the box, spit, and watch the autist you delivered to sputter out "thh.. hhanks, you too".

USA Today recommends 15%-20%, traveller.com recommends 15%-20%, The Telegraph recommends 20%, The Independendent recommends 18%-25%, Fodor's Travel recommends 15%-20% Trip Advisor recommends 15%-20%, the menus in an American restaurant just over the border near me claim that "15%-20% is standard," IQWCalculators recommends 15%-20%, Business Insider says 17%-20% is average, WonderfulWanderings.com recommends 15%-20%, literally hundreds of others.

Either you are a cheap cunt, an idiot, or you think it's still 1990, probably all 3.

What's the point of doing it by percentage though?

>you're a cheap cunt if you don't want to pay 20% more for an already overpriced meal

Fuck off w*iteroid, we're not your employer.

or
>got to a restaurant
>if the service isn't great don't leave a tip
here's a hot tip, don't take 10 minutes to refill my glass you lazy cunt

Is there another way to do it?

why only waiters get tips tho? there are way shittier jobs that dont get tips
it's a shit job you do for some extra money while you are a student (at least here, but i suppose no adult want or can be a waiter for all his life, unless the restaurant is his own) so you shouldnt expect some great pay
better be grateful until bots steal that job too and you will be left to face the fact that nothing can fix your brainlet status

>20% tip
Luckily I hardly go to restaurants anyways.
The whole thing stems from waiters and the like getting shit pay, the tips unironically make up the bulk of their earnings most of the time. It’s retarded, like many of the things that go on in restaurants.

I don’t understand why the tip % is increasing with time other than greed. I mean. 10% increases with inflation as the menu prices do, so it’s not as if servers are suffering from a decline in real wages. So why is 10% in 1990 acceptable, but we have to pay 15-20% now when 10% is already continually adjusted for inflation? That’s a straight up wage increase passed onto the customer.

I would rather give a friendly train conductor 20% of my ticket as tip instead of some asshole in a restaurant who has to seethe on twitter about it after work

Clearly w*iteroid are behind those articles.

Flat rate of 3 bucks is what I do when paying for myself

I just find it dicked that a waiter or bar tender can make a shit load of cash if they are in the right place. 100s of dollars they probably don't even pay tax on.

Why does the server deserve more money if your food is more expensive? Just tip what you think the service was worth. The price of the food shouldn't factor into it.

The American fixation on 'tips' is fucked. Tips are, and should be, for generously rounding out the bill, that's it.
It's the responsibility of the owners to pay their employees, not their customers.

Bellhops, cab drivers, delivery boys, barbers/hairdressers, concierges (conciergii?), tattoo artists, taxisermists, and valets, all usually get tipped. I'm probably forgetting a few
Don't know about the U.S. but it is also customary to give your trash collectors and mailman a gift at Christmas, usually chocolates, this is kind of a tip I guess.
It's also customary to tip someone that does something extra for you at specialty shops. A butcher that cuts meat a particular way just for you or a baker that makes you a type of bread they don't normally make for example.
Canadians also sometimes tip at Tim Hortons, but not other fast food type drivethru places. Usually just the change on a coffee or tea (a dime or nickel).

This, my gf is a waitress at a smaller restaurant with a lot of regulars, and it pisses me off when she complains about “only making $60” or whatever for the night. She really means she only made $60 in tips, not including her wage on top of that.

Just fucking make it so you can't pay waiters below minimum wage.
It's a job, you middle man between the kitchen and the cunt in a chair it isn't fundamentally different from any other job.
I don't give a fuck if they smile or anything just write shit down

>Canadians also sometimes tip at Tim Hortons, but not other fast food type drivethru places. Usually just the change on a coffee or tea (a dime or nickel).

I have never seen anyone do this

Please provide a source

>1 american says something
>worthy of a thread
wtf

Same here, but we are in Canada so we tip less people, we tip less often, and we tip lower amounts, than the Americans. Our servers make at least minimum wage, there's do not.

>it is also customary to give your trash collectors and mailman a gift at Christmas, usually chocolates
very cute habit, we instead report them and get them fired since they always do a shitty job (scatter trash around or deliver bills when already expired (what is the term?) so you pay extra)
i understand tipping someone for a very well done job but that's it, i dont see why i should pay it whatever you are doing

Uh, no. That's not how things work. Please don't mislead foreigners with your retarded understanding of income tax law.
Tips are taxed on the federal level. Period. You have a reporting and withholding requirement for it. All credit card tips are definitely reported. Cash tips should be but I suspect most are not.
Almost all states follow the federal income rules. I cannot think of any state that does not require tips to be included in income.

t. CPA.

damn what a slut, I bet she gets a good enough wage too because she's in canada

What happens if I go to America and don't pay tips?
How many days of the week does your gf work and what is her hourly wage?

1.) More food means more work
2.) At an expensive restaurant the quality of the waitstaff is expected to be better and therefore worth the extra tip cost
3.) Tips are often shared among the kitchen staff. Even if the waitress does the exact same amount of work the cook probably worked harder on a more expensive plate

>more expensive food means more food

Might be regional? We always do here and they split the change at the end of the shift. I had a gf that worked at Tims and she'd get about $20 a day.

A source on what? Tip amounts? Just Google it

Not always more in quanity, but more difficult to prepare.

I dislike restroom attendants and have no idea why that shit started, it is awkward to me. Only one place I go to regular has one and it annoys me to pay a buck to have someone with me while i am taking a piss.

sometimes i wish that people stopped going out to eat just to see restaurants close down and greedy waiters become unemployed because of this.

HOW TO BE A SERVER:
You work and get paid by the company you work for.
If you don't like your wage you find yourself another job.
Thank you for reading my post.

I came here to eat, not to do math

How about I never tip, go fuck yourself.

yes let (((them))) tell you what you must pay

I think they are something like elevator attendents, they used to make sense but really don't anymore. It gave employment to otherwise generally unemployable people (before Walmart greeter existed), there were no automatic soap dispensers or towell/dryer units, etc. Someone needed to be there with a fresh towell and soap bar and getting rid of the dirty ones, plus keeping everything very clean after each person as would be expected at a high-end place (economic disparity and education do that now).

So if you're the one paying the servers, that means you're their boss, can you fire them on the spot?

This could all be avoided if we just had a minimum wage for servers.

tipping 20% is only for great service though, 10-15% is for decent service, and 0% for bad service

People usually tip after theyve eaten retard

>Be American
>Hate everything "socialist"
>Love everything that is capitalistic
>Always tips, regardless of what they are paying for or the quality of the product/service
>Think that anyone that doesn't tip is scum
>mfw
Cognitive Dissonance?
Is that some kind European holiday?

Attached: Jason.jpg (400x400, 26K)

Both sides would be losing money though

You probably can indirectly, I bet a restaurant owner would value a regular customer more than some replaceable brat

Ég elska Ísland fána :3

>be iceland
>buttfuck belgium
>get cucked by brits
>still retarded inbreed

Attached: iceland.jpg (750x422, 56K)

How about you tip the chef, the fucking guy actually responsible for the food you eat instead of some bimbo who brings it to you?

Americans are legit third world in their manners.

>an optional donation is the same as a forced tax

Attached: 1508729826113.jpg (600x600, 57K)

>Cognitive Dissonance
Hey man don't make fun of such a serious disease, I had a cousin that died of that.

Isn't garbage/trash business run by mafia?

>why are american service industry people such rude whiny entitled pieces of shit?
FTFY cunt.

>get cucked by brits
Other way around user
>still retarded inbreed
Also the Brits not us.

>D O N A T I O N

x = total bill

tip = x . 0.10

i guess it's along the lines of being able to support more if you can afford more. Which would not be a bad line of thought, if the tipping system wasn't retarded in itself

Based Timür.

This, they always cry about making $2/hr as if they dont make well over minimum wage from tips

>Other way around user
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ástandið
sure man

sometimes there are mafia infiltrations, but the problem most of times is that workers are lazy at a job that honestly no one would really like to do

Wikipedia is wrong
It only applies to Americlaps, not Brits because Bits left as soon as they came
Also:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cod_Wars

Because they are mostly women

I love Iceland

$12.20/hour, she works about 28 hours a week

Can i get in trouble if i don't tip? Is it absolutely required for me to tip?

Attached: 1500259171229.png (612x491, 98K)

it is just a donation though, you dont have to tip at all if you dont want to as they will get paid a normal minimum wage if they dont make enough in tips

>Donating
>Capitalistic
>Optional
>People call you scum if you decide not to, especially the servers
Yeah sure buddddddday

No, by the time they see you havent tipped you should be out the door so they will only get one shot off towards you

No dude that's bluepilled commy socialist libtard c.uck shit

>I care about how people think of the way I spend my money

Attached: soylord (1).webm (400x400, 1.94M)

It matters in the moment because you Americlaps are insane and will assault and/or destroy me and/or my lively hood if I do something you disagree with

you tip as you are leaving and will be gone by the time the server sees it though

I don't trust turning my back on Amerishoots

>we recommend this!
ok. you make good money doing pushover work. before anyone chimps out servers and bartenders have it so easy in the usa it's a joke. ive done both. bartenders are the worst.
>stand at bar
>wait while bartender fucks off talking and drinking
>get their attention
>show up a minute later
>buy $.75 beer for $5
>all bartender does is hold glass at angle under tap for 15 seconds
>expects tip
Fuck off

Not unless you keep going back to the same place after not tipping, and at worst you'll just receive shitty service.

black people do it all the time and I havent heard of shootings from it so should be fine

>american
>hasnt heard of shootings
uhmmmmmmmmmmm
