If I remember correctly, he was suspended from performing mass for his anti-pope speech for a couple of months and he was to make a public apology or face a double excommunication, and there's a video of him talking about this double excommunication thing. That's not what I believe. I personally see agnostics the same way I see MGTOWs in regard to female issues; they want to run away from the issue without actually tackling it like an atheist or antitheist would. Organized religion must be criticized; it is one of the biggest bridges separating us from actually progressing as a society.
Islam is regressive. So is Christianity, all the way down to polytheistic tribal religions. Do I like some of the Islamic social doctrines? Sure - I believe that women should be regulated. However, as we have seen in the past with the Taliban banning music and launching an ethnic genocide against heretics, in addition to the Spanish doing the exact same thing with the Muslims in the late 1400's, we need to actively fight organized religion. If we aren't careful we will be ruled under a caliphate eventually and society will stagnate into the Dark Ages.

Because socialism promotes atheism, your center-right government is weak and ineffectual who want to preserve organized religion, and the populists are white supremacists who also want to preserve organized religion because it gives them a reactionary boner.
