Why is American mustard this ugly bright yellow? Mustard isn't supposed to be that color

German mustard: Coarsely ground seeds, water, vinegar and honey
American mustard: Mustard oil, water, distilled vinegar, starch and turmeric

It's the mustard I see the most often in stores that import bongland products. Haven't tried it though, but I've tried marmite and mint sauce, both of which I liked in very small amounts to accompany buttered bread for instance.

Maille mustard is not even produced in France anymore, Unilever closed the manufacturing back in 2009 and produce most of in Turkey.
I use pic related because it's, good, I can get it here and it is French made.

It's yellow because they put tumeric in it. There's no artificial dyes. American mustard has a less tart taste, goes better with things like burgers and hot dogs. More liquid too (but not that much more)

Barbeque is alright, there are other things to hate America for, like American "cheese"
