Nobody but some retarded Arabs think it's normal to kill people over portraying Muhammad but at the same time I also don't think it's normal for people to go around and try to do the one thing that is known to trigger the maximum amount of people and call it banter.

I disagree wholeheartedly, beliefs should be challenged. Yes some things will be put on a pedestal, but often without much reasoning behind it, often even fear. A way to get people to self reflect on that is by dragging the thing off the pedestal and witness the arguments for why people think it should be on the pedestal. Such was the case with Karl Marx in East Germany, mocking him was a way to challenge authority there and pose difficult questions that seemed deceptively juvenile because of the humorous way Marx was questioned(through making fun of him).
