Fair criticism of korea

My main criticism of Korea is that it always seems to be having some sort of identity crisis

After 1945 Korea tried to look for its own culture. The fact was there wasn't enough unique Korean culture and the void was filled in with American/Soviet style western culture.

Korea also went full autism and got rid of Kanji in a WE WUZ move. In Japan we balance our indigenous culture with Tang derived high culture

Korea was actually modernizing by itself during Korean Empire phase right b4 annexation. For a short period Seoul adopted many western tech and modernized.
