Ok, there were greeks in the aegean, especially in Solun but they weren't a majority. Turks, bulgarians, macedonians etc lived mostly in the villages, the villages had slavic names and so on. But everything changed after the population exchange between turkey and greece.
My grandma still has alive cousins in the aegean who didn't escape to yugoslavia during the civil war.
